Meet the rapper Asa from Roihuvuori, who used to use the artist name “Avain”

The lyrics are very straightforward as in rap they usually are. I don't normally listen to rap so much but for me the lyrics reflect disappointment about politics, pride, survival, unfairness, inequality, social exclusion and it's problems among other things. Full song can be viewed here:

The first thing you notice when you enter Roihuvuori is that it's very green. In the streets you can see a lot of elderly people and adults, not many youngsters or young adults. It's quiet and peaceful, except in the suburb's small shopping mall.

It has it's pubs and pizzerias like any other old suburb where no renovation has been made after the 1970's. I wonder if there is a particulary active congregation since people are coming in and out of the Church doors. The youth house is probably also nearby since I see some groups going towards the church talking about playing pool.

There is also some vocational school near the industrial area where you can see the motorline (Itäväylä). I smell traffic, gas and autumn. I go back to Roihuvuorentie, the road which cuts Roihuvuori from Herttoniemenranta all the way to Itäkeskus. I know there's a Cherry tree park in Roihuvuori which has annual japanese Hanami celebrations, even now it's beautiful and I must admit Roihuvuori really is a ”green lung”.

You can find Cinderella-street, Wonderland-path, Pixie-path, Troglodyte-street, Mountaingoblin-street and many more. The Water tower marks Herttoniemi, you know you have come East. It's very dominant, it also reminds me of a mushroom.

In old Herttoniemi the street names were mostly animals and in the new part they were about sailing and boats.
