I also tried Speak Screen with the Yelp and Uber apps. I didn't like Speak Screen as much because having to use two fingers to swipe down from the top, I often pulled down my lock screen. It was frustrating and would be difficult for someone with a visual impairment to navigate why the function wasn't working.

When meeting with my client's and their team members we collaborate as needed, but by regulation we meet yearly to discuss the client's overall year.

In regard to myself, I use my social media platforms to build my professional learning network. I follow certain accounts on Instagram and Facebook. I find Facebook more helpful in terms of the age population who utilizes Facebook more. I find that there are more people who have been in the field longer with a vast amount of experience I can learn from. Instagram is helpful in a way where I will read a post about something I didn't necessarily know, but I find Instagram to be more for branding rather than for collaboration.

I advocated to be a part of this course to my company so I can begin to grow in this area. My boss and I recently submitted a proposal for a conference that will be held in Chicago next year to present on how assistive technology can aid adults with DD/IDD/Autism or other related mental health diagnosis to be more independent.

Phase 2: I have already begun to manage my information by taking notes during this course and creating a folder that holds all the resources that we have been provided through this class thus far. I have been diving into researching evidence-based journal articles relating to assistive technology and saving them to the folder so I can read them during my downtime.

Phase 3: Other than my boss, there is no other person in our company that has experience in assistive technology. I enjoy discussing with her what I have been learning so far in this course. Every time she expresses that she is going out to do an evaluation I ask to go with her so I can firsthand see how it is performed. As I gain more knowledge and feel confident in my skill set, I will spread knowledge and awareness about this field. When it comes to meetings with our team, I plan to pose questions that can relate to helping our individuals become more independent using assistive technology in their daily lives.

I played with a majority of the accessibility features on my iPhone 11 pro. I have had experience with the makeshift home button being available on the screen because when I was in high school, the same thing happened to me where my home button broke and friends of mine had showed me what to do to fix it. I played more with Speak Screen as I have an individual of mine in mind. He is in his mid 50's and has a mild intellectual disability as his primary diagnosis. He cannot read and has always struggled with all interventions of learning to read. I thought of him immediately as he has a cell phone, and this would probably be so helpful and beneficial to him as he can access his phone more independently rather than constantly asking his staff for help. I plan to visit him at home next week and I would like to sit with him and work with his phone to set it up and see if he would like to try to utilize the feature.

I know that we have a few individuals that use the iPads and such to communicate and also switches so it was very informative to learn about the interface part of the switch and features. I have learned so much from them.
Phase 2: I admit that I need a better way to organize my resources. I need something simple and easy to use.

I personally constantly use my "Notes" app on my iPhone to create digital copies of print/paper materials. It is so easy to navigate and to get use to if someone was not familiar with it. If you already have an apple device, then I would say it is "cost effective" due to it being an included feature on the phone. The only down fall in my opinion is that it takes the hang of capturing the text. In certain instances, I find the scanner feature not capturing the paper how I would like it to. It does take several tries, based on my experience. I do like now how the updated versions of iOS allow for you to copy and paste any text within documents, web browsers/site, or even text within a picture. It truly makes it that much more accessible.

I explored the speak selection and voiceover features iOS and the android systems. I thought the apple accessibility features were slightly more user friendly then android as I had to download live transcribe prior to its use but I also have an older phone. I also briefly explored the Chrome browser accessibility feature of live caption while finishing the AT accessibility video. I am excited to explore some of these features with some of our clients.

My friend with Parkinson's immediately came to mind as I explored these features as his speech is very slurred at times and hard to understand. He has tried several different speech programs to help him however so far they have not worked well for him. These features on the iPhone would really benefit him as it's really easy to use and should be able to adapt to his speech style. I plan to take this information I explored to him and see if any of these features could help him to better communicate using his iPhone.

This would allow for basic "positive", "negative", feedback on discussion topics but it would be difficult to express things in a more specific manner. If this was the only communication option available, then I would think that those participating in the meeting would need to be cognizant of asking the right questions to get more specific feedback from the person using this feature.

The goal is a shared human experience format with discovering benefits of technology combined with personal growth and accomplishments of goals/dreams/future plans. It is very much in the seed state right now and I am utilizing this course as an introductory conversation starter about ways to approach aspects of learning/teaching. With the growth of this program along the way- my intention is to solidify a network of others to become part of this round table discussion/exploration of what independence means to all of us involved, and how to support one another in pursuits of that. Right now we are in the phase of accepting applications of interest for individuals that would like to take part in the program- both supporting and supported.

I really enjoyed getting to explore all of the AAC apps. Being so new to this niche of the field, it seems as though ACC is always the most talked about. I am very familiar with Proloquo2Go. For me this is the easiest to manipulate, alter and organize. I like how you can create folders, pages and even add in personal pictures for real life objects or even people to identify. I did my own research and found an app called "Conversation Therapy." It is geared for adults. I currently work with adults in a group home setting and thought this would be really helpful to apply what I discovered to my current work. Part of the company's mission is to differ from other ACC apps in terms of having options of expressing thoughts, feelings, experiences and ideas. I think that is really wonderful and progressive! It also seems as though the app has social skills and perspective taking incorporated into it to help individuals better identify red flags or learn the appropriate skills and apply them to real life conversations.

This app is so cool. I really enjoyed playing around with it and showing my family members how it worked. I agree with Maria's response how it would be a great alternative to teach a learner new information. No one learns the exact same way and an application like this might make the learning more appealing which would lead to an interest in what is being taught. I think of the VR feature for one of my individuals on my caseload in particular. He has anxiety around heights, hills, inclines, enclosed areas and staircases. Right now, we have a trial to criterion teaching procedure in place that helps desensitize him to those obstacles above. I think allowing him to have access to VR and know that he is in the comfort of his own home, in a safe pace like his bedroom might be another helpful way for him to learn to tolerate the undesired environments he has anxiety around.

I think this is a good option because it eliminates you going into each and every app and setting it how you want. Many of the apps listed already have the features of cross posting onto another platform, specifically for the social media apps. I saw Philips Hue and iRobot. These within the app themselves have timers to set daily with the preferences of your liking.
