Out of the seven evaluative criteria (generalizability, authenticity, multiple foci, teachability, fairness, feasibility, and scorability) which 2 do you think are the most vital to creating an effective performance assessment? Provide evidence from in class notes and the reading. You have 5-7 minutes to complete the assessment.

Teach ability is my next favorite because this is another option you will take far past high school. It is essential to be teachable your entire lie

This idea is extremely important to avoid bias in the classroom. The main thing mentioned that I think applies to this is the Halo Effect. I have a friend who is already teaching who claims they commonly work to benefit the students they like. I find this highly inappropriate and it plays to favorites. The second idea that I find important is teachability. Lessons should always be appropriate to both the subject and the students. If a topic is unable to be attainable then the students will not care to listen.

-Taran Wagner

In my opinion the two most vital Criteria would be teachability and feasibility. It’s important to make sure that a task or whatever you are teaching and assessing can be improved upon by students and added to. Feasibility is most important in a realistic way. You have to take into account space, time, available equipment, and most importantly cost for administration.

I think that authenticity and fairness are the two most vital evaluative criteria in performance assessment. Authenticity is important because making it applicable to the real world will make it meaningful to our students. A large aspect of education is being able to APPLY it later on in their lives. For fairness, it is important that the criterion of the assessment is fair and an even playing field for all students. If a performance assessment, which evaluates a student's individual performance, isn't fair, then what's the point? Accurate measurement is key.

Fairness and teachability. I think being fair to the students when grading assignments, projects, etc. is very important. It also works from the students side too because they need to be fair when completing work on time when expecting grades back in a certain time frame. Teachability is important because it is important for the students to be able to digest and retain information. Students need to be able to be engaged when learning content.

The most important, out of all of the evaluative criteria, is fairness. Fairness incorporates the important of avoiding bias that may hinder the performance of the learner. Fairness also holds the teacher accountable on assessing students only on information that they would be responsible for knowing, not outside knowledge or facts. The other most important criteria to me authenticity. Authenticity and applicability to the real world is what learning is all about. After the students leave the confines of K-12 school, we as the teacher want all of the content and information we gave them to be applicable to their life. Overall, this means we have to evaluate the students based upon the needs of our 21st century world and society and tie lessons back to the real world through assessment.

I think arguably the most important of the evaluative criteria is the feasibility of the criteria. An assessment can be as well written, fair, etc. as you like, but if it isn't really possible to perform the assessment, none of that matters.

Second I would say scorability is very important. If you can't apply the score to the aforementioned well-written assessment, what is the point of administering the assessment

Morgan K

I think the two criteria that are most important in creating an effective assessment are authenticity and teach ability. My reason for choosing these two are that: 1. For authenticity, the notes suggest whether or not it can apply to the real world. As teachers, not only are we teaching information, the students need to be able to apply the skills they are learning to the real world. Which is important. 2: for teachability, the notes suggest is it something the students can improve on? If you don’t use it you lose it. It’s important to get the students to improve on tasks so they are learning to eventually master the skills.

First, i feel authenticity is important. The main idea of education is to prepare students for the real world and authenticity makes your assessment applicable to the real world. Next, I feel fairness is also vital. It is important to to avoid bias so that every student has an equal chance and assessment. These two ideas are the most vital to creating a performance assessment.

-Dalton Elzer

Authenticity and Fairness. Making sure an assessment is authentic makes sure that it is applicable to the real would and in a social studies class is is important that students be able to connect what we are learning in class to the world outside of the classroom. Fairness allows for the task to be made for all the student in the classroom. Avoiding bias also allows for you to accurately asses the students on the criteria you created.

Alex Loris

I think scorability and fairness are two of the most important. Although the other evaluative criteria are also very important, without fairness and scorability, assessing the performance would not be possible. Fairness is important because it is essential to not grade students with bias or else the grade would not be reliable.
