However, they aren’t 100% effective against teen pregnancy. “The most common STD is the human papilloma (pronounced pap-uh-LOH-muh) virus, or HPV. No method of contraception can fully prevent the transmission of HPV, because it can infect areas not covered by a condom. However, using a condom with every sex act can lower the risk of transmission.” (Hilliard City Schools).

She didn’t want to use any protection and because of it, she became pregnant. She kept the child as she was graduating from high school at seventeen. Having a child this young has proven extremely stressful for her, and although she wanted to keep her child, she does regret this decision at times. Not using protection put her at risk for STDs and changed her life in a major way.
