Hello, I am João and I am and English, German and IT teacher in a school in the south of Portugal. I have been a teacher for 21 years now and a huge IT fan from the beginning so I have experience in etwinning, comenius, blogs and all the looks and appeals to my students imagination.

At my school, I have the luxury of having a complete room with all necessary for English lessons as well as computers and sort of gadgets for speaking and communicating with people all over Europe.

The classroom challenge will vary according to each students' experience with the devices at stake. But from my experience on PC use, most do not have th e basic skills to use the necessary software, produce some kind of presentation adequately, so PEER work is the key issue here, so I have them teach each other. The classroom layout is vital and very useful for the students' interaction, so any open area is good for the activity.

Why I want to use tablets in my classroom

I would love to have that possibility for it is REALLY a new way of communicating, very accessible with a wide range of information and resources that are at hand to be explored in real time. It will enhence the students' view on reality and inspire them to do more and in a more perfect way.

The main challenge will definitely be MONEY , TIME and SCHOOL LEADERS' view into the future. Team work is time consuming and people are stressed up and not willing to share or even just work together. Many students do already use tablets at home and it has become so common that even adults love it usefulness. Below you can see our students of the future...

I have never used edmodo, but I think it is a useful tool to get students to get organized and focussed on what they have to accomplish in a collaborative way. We have used moodle and blogs to get students to access new information and share ideas.
