         <description><![CDATA[<div>I interviewed Mr. Coutts to learn about his idea about the American Dream.&nbsp; Mr. Coutts' dream is to be able to own a home and have a family.&nbsp; He planned to play basketball but then went to engineering "when he grew up".&nbsp; His parents and television influenced his dream.&nbsp; His hopes and dreams have come true because he got lucky at a good time.&nbsp; Mr. Coutts stated that the American Dream is harder to achieve, and a person should rely on relocation if a person falls short on their personal American Dream.&nbsp; Mr. Coutts also states that the United States is still a "land of opportunity".&nbsp; Advice Mr. Coutts' parents said to him that education is important, because it affords opportunities for careers that can be used to support families.<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The movie clip, from the Founder, shows Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton) talking to a group of employees saying, "McDonald is family".&nbsp; Ray Kroc keeps giving a variety of different audiences a sales pitch.  The sales pitch is about giving opportunities for the employees, the American Dream.  Ray tries to sell the idea that McDonald's is an opportunity to earn lots of money.  If the employees work hard enough they can achieve the American Dream.  The employees are asked if they're willing to get their hands dirty and roll up their sleeves in order to achieve the American Dream.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The American Dream is an idea&nbsp;that if someone works hard enough they can earn lots of money and become rich.  The man who coined the phrase was James Truslow Adams who stated, "The American Dream is "that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement. It is a difficult dream for the European upper classes to interpret adequately, and too many of us ourselves have grown weary and mistrustful of it. It is not a dream of motor cars and high wages merely, but a dream of social order in which each man and each woman shall be able to attain to the fullest stature of which they are innately capable, and be recognized by others for what they are, regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or position." &nbsp;The phrase means that in the eyes of the American Dream everyone is equal in America no matter what social class and gender you're in.  Anyone can go from rags to riches in America and everyone has that opportunity.  The phrase also states that America is an opportunity for a better life depending on your abilities or achievements.  The American Dream is more than about getting rich but also to be recognized by others for what you've achieved.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>An article titled, The American Dream Is Alive and Well, by Stephen Moore states how the American Dream is still alive and more popular.&nbsp; The article states America has lots of opportunities to anyone.&nbsp; Although America has gone through economic crisis's, America still rises back from the crisis.&nbsp; "Stories like Blakely’s are additional evidence that there is something special about America. They remind us that, while imperfect, America’s meritocratic economic system and constitutional government should be a source of pride for its citizens. It’s also why countless immigrants have made the journey to find a better life in America."&nbsp; America always prevails when it comes to crisis's which is why people from different countries come to America and achieve their American Dream.&nbsp; "But I do believe our country was built on optimism for what opportunities would be to come. It <em>was</em> and <em>is</em> the American dream. &nbsp; So, I was profoundly encouraged to read Adam Brandon and David Sokol’s new book <a href="https://www.amazon.com/America-Perspective-Defending-American-Generation/dp/1637587104/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3TEZF3R0FIBS&amp;keywords=adam+brandon&amp;qid=1660263343&amp;sprefix=Adam+Brandon%2Caps%2C72&amp;sr=8-1"><em>America in Perspective</em></a>, which reminds us that the U.S. always prevails through divine providence and commitment to success and excellence.&nbsp; We always soldier on through wars, corruption, depressions, natural disasters and wayward leadership."<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In chapter 24 of The Distance Between Us Renya Grande managed to get into college despite all the hardships she faces in her life.&nbsp; Renya became the only person in her family to go and graduate from college.&nbsp; Renya proved that she would succeed in college despite what her father kept telling her.&nbsp; Reyna worked hard in college and never gave up from graduating.&nbsp; "All she has to do is focus on her dreams. She closes her eyes, remembering her first trip to the beach with Papi, and how tightly he held her hand as they walked into the ocean together. In Reyna’s mind, she at last lets his callused hand go."  Renya reveals that in order to achieve the American Dream you have to face through hardships that come along you. &nbsp;</div>]]></description>
