As I was listening and watching the Bunjil documentary, my mind ran to the artefact that I had seen, learned, and cherished while doing my previous assignment. So, I decided to do my Place-Thought walk in Waa and Bulln Bulln Corroboree (Springvale Ceremonial Fire Pit).

The intricate detail of an image of a lyre bird (Bulln Bulln) and a crow (Waa the protector) (Murphy & Kennedy, n.d.) had been hand carved on the blue stone to symbolise kinship between Wurundjeri and Bunurong peoples, two local Aborigine groups in the Kulin nation.those two hand carved birds on the ceremonial firepit immediately caught my attention as I walked through the sacred site. The sculptures seemed to awaken, and I had a feeling it was the Bunjil documentary music playing at my head that described an ancient tale of cultural continuity and profound wisdom passed down over generations (Eness, n.d.).

Place Thought walk has been a transformative experience, guided by Aunty Joy Murphy's Welcome to Country audio . I've been deeply connected to the Bunurong country, and I've been entrusted with the responsibility of caring for the land and the rivers. I feel a sense of purpose in honoring the legacy of the indigenous guardians and in nurturing a harmonious relationship with the land and the rivers that sustain us all, as I reflect on the wisdom of this journey. This experience has given me a commitment to protecting and preserving the historic traditions that are passed on from generation to generation. As an educator, I am excited to share these valuable teachings with the children under my care, fostering in them a love and respect for the land, its people, and its ancient wisdom.

Tears welled in my eyes as I gazed at the hand-carved lyre bird and crow on the bluestone, recalling Aunty Joy Murphy's Welcome to Country story (Murphy & Kennedy, n.d.). Her words resonated, making me ponder how ancestors cared for this land. I felt grateful for the wisdom passed down by Indigenous elders, their heartfelt connection to the land and rivers transcending time.

Sitting by the fire pit, I realized I had never witnessed a fire ceremony or received a white river gum leaf for a Welcome to Country (Murphy, n.d.), but it inspired me to make a promise. I vowed to protect this land and teach future generations to cherish these traditions. The ceremonial fire pit symbolizes a sacred bond between Indigenous custodians, their ancestors, and the environment—a continuous tradition of care and preservation.

This experience renewed my purpose, connecting me with the place and motivating me to honor the land's wisdom and ensure its preservation for future generations.

I feel the wisdom and guidance from indigenous elders resonate within me. As I continue my journey, I aim to appreciate the ancestral significance of rivers in Indigenous cultures. Learning from place, embracing Indigenous knowledge, and respecting the natural world are my commitments.

During my visit I was captivated by non human elements birds gliding gracefully, majestic trees standing tall and shiny towering buildings signifying the ever changing present. Their presence reminded me of our interdependence with nature. We're part of a interconnected ecosystem, responsible for safeguarding the environment that sustains us all. Amidst this diversity, the deep connection between past and present was evident, urging me to cherish and protect this precious environment for generations to come.
