Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Children
A human rights violation that sees Indigenous women, children & 2 spirited people are disappearing and being murdered at a disproportionate rate compared to their non-Indigenous counterparts. This issue is based in a legacy of colonialism , racism and sexism that is enhanced by the poverty & homelessness that is faced by members of this community. Deemed a national crisis & cultural genocide, the issue has led to the further marginalization of Indigenous people.
