They were being abused and mistreated at a young age instead of the traditional nurturing Indigenous ways strayed cultural identity, parenting, the parents, the future children, and generations to come.

The Israel Occupation of Palestine is a highly controversial issue that has been ongoing for decades and has led to the deaths of millions on both sides of the conflict. Palestinian land, after WWI, was given to the UK by the League of Nations, without proper Palestinian consultation. Originally, the land was to be controlled by Britain temporarily until they owed the Zionist Organization + Jewish people home after the events that occurred during WWII. During the British occupation, the Jewish community worked to have Palestine as their home while also claiming the land ancestrally/through very old history. The indigenous Palestinians who lived there for 2 millennia felt their human rights were being violated. The growing conflict made Britain go to the UN (only 2 years old at the time), and they began their involvement. The situation escalated with the solutions the UN provided, affecting the surrounding countries and their allies. Fast forward to now, innocent lives are being lost because of the multiple opposing organizations who all feel strongly and differently about who should occupy the land state.

Learning and educating yourself about issues like these makes you aware of the suffering that so many people go through daily. Learning about these intense situations is essential in not only realizing how lucky we are but also realizing so much change needs to happen in the world, and we are the next generation that has to help do that. It also shows how common Indigenous communities are treated globally, oppressed and disrespected by another power.

Not only did she teach youth, become a senator, fight for Indigenous + women + land rights, and break boundaries and records, but she also brought a perspective on the high levels of government needed and also in every other workplace she entered. She was a role model for all her peers, and every article has quotes in admiration, acknowledging her influence on the people in their industries today. Her devotion and drive to work for the people is truly remarkable. So, while Chalifoux made significant physical changes throughout her life through her policies and organizational contributions, her ability to open people's eyes and minds has stayed with them. Chalifoux was and continues to be an influential member of Canada's government.
