I work in this school for about 16 years. It was named after known scientist Nikola Tesla.

There are about 500 pupils in 24 classes.

I teach primary subjects and work ICT as extra curricular activity .

Explaining the importance of computing

I made with students weekly project: A week without technology. They tried to give them a week to pass without touching the mobile phone, computer, watching TV. They told me about the chaos and confusion in life that occurred throughout the week. But some admitted that they did not succeed in it.

What to focus on? Skills

Pupils made posters of old forgotten games. They worked in groups, draw up posters on the basis of interviews and stories with their grandparents. In the classroom, they had to present the way the game together and we spent an hour in the games that the children were discovered himself.I think we unite all of the above skills.

Computing in your country

In Croatia, the informatics is still only an elective subject in school or extracurricular activity. For children there is a lot of interest but due to lack of conditions (insufficient number of computers) can not all children go to IT. I still do not understand why neither the announced new curriculum Informatics not introduced as a compulsory subject for all students. In my school I head extracurricular activities informatics and I'm very sorry that I am unable to include all students who would like more depend on the number of computers in schools.

Developing Collaboration in Computing

In situations when there was a freezing computer or a larger number of students saw how students cope very well and like to work in pairs. Each of them has some better developed skills from each other, so when they put together and work together it works extremely well.

Engaging Girls

I agree with the allegations in the videos and I have to admit that I have not so far in such a serious way registered. In the years in which are my students interested in computer activities is equal.

Linking Computing to other subjects

We have our own classroom website where we do a lot of online tasks using Padlets or Linoit. We're working on our third eTwinning projects that we have designed on the basis of our year's curriculum in nature and society. This mode actually encourages the development of essential skills. We are also working on an international project so we learn the English language, develop language skills through videoconferencing and ect.

Two days ago I came to this course so I need to study in detail the offered tools such as Scratch, Kodu and ect. That's why I made the preparation of the application Zondle in which I made, with students educational games.
