In sixth grade, my English teacher was very enthusiastic and made learning fun. He is who inspired me to pursue writing and I have been grateful ever since as it has sparked not only a love for reading and literature but a love for the art of writing. I maintained good grades in his class because of his enthusiasm and persistence of teaching- he is one of the teachers who was truly meant to teach.

Middle school was a confusing time for me as I tried to figure out who I wanted to become as a person when I was alone, with friends, or even family. I learned about my false self-behavior and was able to distinguish my authentic self from my inauthentic self depending on who I was around. I went through multiple phases where I had this sense of self identity and I told myself I wanted to become one thing, just to change it within a few months or years and be back to square one. I struggled a lot with self esteem and identity (sometimes I still do).

I also remember seeing my mother as an individual more and more as time went on when we would have discussions and I realized it was okay for me to have a differing opinion then her. This also aided in my own process of individuation.

I also realized the concept of reaffiliation motive, and how easy it is to want to reconnect with someone in times of loneliness or distress especially in past relationships.
