The biggest takeaway from this class has to be that each child has their own unique learning style, and as future teachers, this is detrimental to their learning development. Many factors go into teaching, and there are many things to unlearn. Lastly, the demographics of children should be incorporated/accommodated in the classroom!
2. One concrete way this course will influence me is to be informed of your students and their background. There are so many factors that go into teaching, and one very important is to communicate with your students and make sure they feel supported in any way. Another way this course will influence me is the amount of productive information I can carry to the classroom. There are so many articles that will benefit me as a teacher and my students. I would like to incorporate books, articles, and videos to inform students of social injustices, awareness of disabilities in the classroom, and so much more. 
3. This class was structured well, and I loved the videos and articles. I would have liked for articles in the workbook to be incorporated more into the assignments. I believe they are great for starting discussions. This book is about gender stereotypes and equality. It is vital to teach children that each person has their own individuality and differences. Embracing your differences is the main focus of this book, and I believe it is a great message to send to kids.

This particular book is one that I would not have thought of putting in my classroom, but I would love to now that I discovered it. I feel as much as it went over my head that not every child has one mom and one dad. Some may have parents of the same sex. This book allows students to visualize a same-sex partnership and not see it as something negative. Students can also become aware that not everyone has a mom and a dad; some have two moms. 

BOOK REVIEW
1. The Giving Tree: I chose this book because I remember it was one of my favorite books to read due to its small number of words. Jokes aside, the book's message was one I kept close to me, influencing my relationships at that time and now. 
2. CHECK THE STORYLINE 
When considering who the tree can represent, a caring/giving human characteristic, you may think of a woman or mom. Now, when we look at the storyline, the tree keeps giving and giving as if its purpose is to live for man. There is a predatory nature in how the boy takes from the tree, expecting her to cater to his needs. 
CHECK THE ILLUSTRATION
"Look for active doers." In this case, as the man grew older, he became the one to go get a job and make money. Eventually, he needed to buy a house to keep his wife and family in. He is portraying the "man of the house" role. The tree represents the inactive observer (the woman). 
WEIGH THE RELATIONSHIPS AMONG PEOPLE
It is essential to note the tree was the only one in the nurturing role out of the two. The boy mainly showed no emotion, greediness, and demanded a lot without returning the favor. This book would not be deemed sexist if the boy reciprocated an ounce of gratitude or nurturing.
CHECK OUT THE AUTHOR'S PERSPECTIVE
It is interesting to see the author's perspective and how he can portray something so innocent yet have deeper-rooted issues. The author's perspective is a bit patriarchal. There is not much emotion from the boy; the emotion decreases as he ages. He gets grumpy, still unappreciative, still taking until the tree has absolutely nothing left.
3. Before knowing this information, I would love to have put this book in my classroom. After knowing the sexism-related issues in the book, I am no longer sure. As a child, I did not notice any gender roles or sexism. I thought very innocently about the book. It was only until I got older that I could now see sexism. So, to answer the question, I am not sure.

The basis of Classdojo is to keep families, teachers, and students connected. It is a perfect place to easily access the teacher by sending messages, which can be translated into more than 35 languages. The teacher has the opportunity to upload photos, videos, and updates on a private feed so parents can see and be involved with the classroom. A feature also allows the teacher to post dates of certain events to help parents be on top of assignments and events. This website is a perfect way to keep parents involved and strengthen student and parent relationships.

The second website is such an exciting website because it has various social-emotional learning activities. The resources provided are age-appropriate for elementary and middle school students. Many of the activities include a specific topic that is perfect for incorporating into the classroom as each student learns differently. Some of their activities include Impulsive Control Activities for Kids, Positive Affirmations for Kids, Active listening Exercises, Brain Breaks For Kids, and Conflict Resolution for Kids. There are even activities for teachers, such as a Self Care For Teachers activity with relaxation tips.

There is not one specific social media profile that I prefer, as so many pop up on my feed. Still, I added this hashtag because there are so many helpful teacher tips, classroom activities, and student situations that are showcased here. I have learned so much from this hashtag and would love for others to know about this side of TikTok. I remember watching one specific video that enforced gentle teaching, and this was where I became aware of this type of teaching. What Do We Say When We Hear The Word Faggot?

I chose this article for the reason that it reminds me of the horrible times of being in school. Many people around my community would love to use this word with a negative connotation. There is no reason to use this derogatory word and this article explains why with a story. It is imperative that students learn the meaning of this word and be aware of how harmful it is to use it.

Latino immigrant parents and schools: Learning from their journeys of empowerment 

My goal as a teacher is to teach in low-income communities. In my community, there are mainly Latinos, and this article has a lot of information I am familiar with. With language barriers, it can be difficult for Latino parents to be involved in the students' education lives. A study is presented to show the narratives of Latino parents and teachers and how they believe schools should be aware of the socio-economic and cultural realities of their students and families. I would love to present this information to anyone I know and when I become a teacher.

Reducing Stigmatization of African American Boys
I chose this article because it was one that surprised me when reading the statistics. African boys are expelled twice the rate of White and Latino children. The author also furthers the idea of "black boys being bad" and how African American children are deemed to be troublesome. In this video, I remember feeling empathetic but also surprised. I chose this video because it is a very raw way to bring up the topic of patriarchy. Many of these individuals regret the decision that practically put them in jail. It reminded me of this word in my culture known as machismo. Many of these men put up a "hard" persona to seem strong, scary, and their ego was most important at that time. When you think about teaching, school is the one place a child is at the most (unless other factors come into play). We are the support system to these men who were once boys.

The film Walkout is a perfect film to tell students about the walkouts in Los Angeles in 1968 to stand for equal education and the civil rights these students deserved. The message is about young people standing up for their dignity and their future. This message can apply to any student that feels the education system is failing them. What better message to give to students than to stand up for themselves when they feel they are being treated unfairly?

I absolutely loved this ted talk because I had no idea Ethnic Studies is considered to be taken out of the school curriculum. I was disheartened when I found this out because Ethnic Studies is very important to minorities in this country to become aware of the social injustices made to them. It is essential to have this conversation with people as students of color will have vital information deprived of them because people in power believe learning this is unnecessary or unfair.
