The artists I will look at is Catherine Opie, Ray Stevenson. I am planning to take individual portraits, of my friends, boyfriend and me. The technique I want to use is shallow depth of field because I want focus on the individual in the image.  I want to be able to make the background black and white and keep the individual in colour to further focus on them instead of blurring the background which will make it fuzzy especially with the shallow depth of field added to it. The equipment I will use is my iPhone which i'll mostly use for outside of college, lighting because it is important otherwise the picture will look weird, or even to lighten the image up and Photoshop to edit the images. To begin my project I will take multiple photos until i find the photos that I like or look good. I also want to be able to let the individuals say how they want their picture taken or how it shows who they are or even where they want it if they like a certain location. I will present it as a moodboard and I will keep them the same size otherwise it would look weird. Ben didn't want his face in it so I only took half of it. I used polygonal lasso to outline the model and I went to the select window and clicked invert, this flips the selection and the background space is selected. I then went to Gaussian blur in the filter menu and this is what blurs the back ground. I then wen onto the "select" window and clicked modify and used feather on my pictures, this is to also give them the extra blended affect. On my pictures I ranged it from 10-15 in the radius marker, this is to make it look natural and not fake looking. I then added "noise" on top, this gives the picture texture and blended together. I then just increase the vibrancy of all pictures because I didn't want to lose the colour. I used this process on all pictures. I decided to present them normally with a background, I was going to have them glossy but it didn’t work and nor did I have the time.
