any action that tends to maintain or alter the motion of a body or to distort it. Friction is the resistance to motion of one object moving relative to another. It is not a fundamental force, like gravity or electromagnetism. Instead, scientists believe it is the result of the electromagnetic attraction between charged particles in two touching surfaces.

The law of conservation of energy asserts that the energy of an isolated system remains constant throughout time Energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be altered or moved from one form to another.

A conservative force is just affected by the object's location.

Say we have a box that is is fastened to a plate by a rope passing via a pulley, it's weight at 7 kg. The block wouldn't move at first when the plate is empty due to friction between the block and the table. if we gradually start adding weights to the plate and stop when the block until it starts to slide over the table, the frictional force between the block and the table would ultimately equal the sum of the weights plus the weight of the plate. This ratio of the frictional force to normal force would then be the coefficient of friction.
