The most effectual means of rendering ourselves useful to our neighbor's is to give an example of holiness of life. Is how the chapter of witness starts.

Proclaiming the gospel is a witness with what we say and how we live. The chapter also says anyone who approaches Catherine carries away some of her contagious sweetness and feels a new level of love for God. Her one duty was to - “to love god and transmit that love to others”. What Catherine’s words imply – What Jesus said and did was to give us an example; that we should spend our life copying. Jesus should be in the eyes of religious like a book constantly opened

Taking each virtue individually, reflecting on how Jesus practiced it, and praying for his spirit to be infused into your heart to soften and prepare it to absorb his divine impression thereon are Catherine's Advises to others. The legacy of Catherine McAuley also stands out for its availability and sensitivity to others' needs. According to Catherine, it entails giving our all while putting our complete trust in God's providence. This explains why she was willing to listen to the screams of the oppressed—cries that so many people choose not to hear. Catherine left a letter in November 1849, which her sister M. Francis read and urged her to do. Catherine treated everyone with respect and decency. For example, in late November 1840, she urged two young girls who came to her for money.

No matter your race, disability, or level of poverty, Catherine accepted all individuals in need. She placed more significance on human connection than on wealth or social standing. She was a source of comfort to the public because of her sense of humor and her role as a peacemaker in a society where social position is highly valued. She lived a self-disciplined life by giving to the less fortunate and orphans that are in need. What she left behind was absolutely lovely. We should put things into practice so that we might become more merciful like Catherine, for whom every day was an opportunity to help people in need. She left behind her message of love, which she believed to be the key to her total self-forgetfulness in favor of Christ and his work. Her love was a connection that united her to God, her sisters, the general public, and everything else that God had made. According to Catherine, charity should be our highest badge of honor since it unites our hearts and souls with God's, enables us to think as one, and keeps God's everlasting glory and our sanctification always in mind.

Catherine never experienced envy, suspicion of others, or outright accusations of wrongdoing or misdeeds since she always believed that families shouldn't argue and that everyone in the family should share in the ups and downs together. Every time she felt the need to chastise another sister, she would always ask herself: If I treat this person in a certain way, will the others do the same? If that were to happen, would it be possible for her or anyone else to follow God in the right way? Would it have an impact on human nature? If so, would they be able to control those urges? NO, she reasoned, we must imitate Jesus' gentleness; otherwise, our comments may have an adverse effect on the person; as a result, we must be kind and considerate toward them. Catherine would always advise removing all coldness, aversion, and reserve from your heart because it is never good for us to harbor wicked thoughts there. Then Catherine advises us to love like he loves.

Catherine McAuley was a social worker and educator with a unique mission who made a difference. More than any other woman in history, she has endured and contributed to the suffering of humanity. One of the finest Irish servants of the Universal church, her work can be compared to that of an Irish monk. One of the most successful organizations serving the town and the entire English-speaking globe in the 19th century was her foundation called the sisters of mercy. She was one who had been sent by God, had a unique mission, and did everything necessary to carry it out. Along with many Irish Saints, she has left a legacy, but what sets her apart from the others is the virtue of love. “One thing is remarkable. No Breach of clarity ever occurred among us. The sun , I Believe never, went down on our anger. This is our only Boast.”- Catherine McAuley.

There was a admonition 'of all other girls' prayer, that must come from God. Catherine McAuley's passion of Christ led her to appreciate the mass of divine love of the Sacred Heart. She encouraged her sisters to follow the learning of tabernacle of making happy life and experience. Catherine was a very dedicated person when it comes to God, living in Jesus Christ by recollection was an ideal she never ceased to recommend, "for unless we live in Jesus Christ we can never draw souls to his love and service." she said. The reasons she desired her sisters were to be "full of God, breathe God, shine with God, be fragrant of God and be the recognition of his will." Catherine's spiritual devotion was to the blessed Virgin. Catherine honored and loved the Blessed Virgin lady whose highest title is that mother of God, she proves her love to the Blessed Virgin by absorbing the lessons of her life by saying "a third part of the Rosary every day in honour" and laboring in earnest to imitate her virtue. Catherine believed that by being faithful to the blessed virgin the Sisters of Mercy would be able to fulfill the duties of their holy congregation and implant Jesus in the hearts of those in need.

The epitome of the gospel of mercy was Catherine McAuley (meaning loving-kindness and faithfulness). She had an enormous effect on large populations of the destitute in England and Ireland. She was a lady of God, to whom she committed her entire life, and foremost a woman of others. She was a person of the people; under the direction of God, she entered the protestant hospitals, the slums of Dublin, and the houses of the villagers of Coolock. With her devotion and love for the people and God, she created a house of friendship, prayer, and love in Baggot Street and managed to grow the number of houses 14 times in just six years.

Mother Catherine's life was propelled by love. It was love that made it possible for her to do ritualistic feats on a regular basis. Her foster parents (The Callaghan's), who had been Protestants, converted to Catholicism as a result of her consistency and love-filled preaching of God's word. She was always trying to see the good in others rather than the bad. She listened to others and made everyone feel accepted. Her verbal skills, sensitivity, understanding, and playfulness were all clearly demonstrated. For Catharine, dedication to Christ and the virtues that go along with it, including mercy and charitability, were just as important as love. Father Burke Savage quickly identified her by her demeanor and work, describing her as a woman in her middle age who understood the meaning of the “Our Father." Newspapers in Dublin, London and New York, that came from the Morning Star describe the following: “This truly pious and patriotic Irish woman should not drop into the tomb like those who leave no trace of usefulness to them.”

For the religious it is indisputable our calling is to create a union of heart and mind with God, we were made by and for him. We are to be united by love and fidelity. Our union should be humble and confiding; expecting and receiving from his bounty. It is a valuable teaching for a world that is broken. Catherine McAuley would overcome all the issues faced by the church today, she too had difficulties but overcame them with faith. Catherine believed that,”God never refuses His grace to those who ask for it”. Catherine was a holy woman who encountered God through prayer and Jesus Christ through Faith.

The only way to preserve the holy state is by receiving the sacrament from the graced Alter. Our whole life is to be a continuous act of praise and worship, our most important duties are those that relate with God. Catherine was very aware of the fact work alone isn't enough to keep a community together and tired through various ways. Tradition and Traditional devotions are important links along with spirituality, which establishes a religious congregation .It is important to know there is only one God for everywhere, everything and everyone and He is everything, He binds us all into one singular purpose. Catherine McAuley was a realist and believed in conquering issues in the present and advocates for, “the sacrament of the present moment”. The simplest most practical lesson is to do good today and better tomorrow, take it day by day .

Throughout Catherine’s short time as a religious and superior, she never lost sight of the visible apostolate of the sisters and of all religious. A sister of mercy should always be cheerful, service to God should be happy, and nothing disturbs her real happiness as she is faithful. Irish Biographer, Rev. Roland Burke-Savage SJ, summerises for us the facets of her character. With the qualities of a great leader and a loving mother and an unshakable faith in God, Catherine vowed as she was to work in mercy. Her Characteristics all found scope within community and then overflowed upon the women and children who wanted her care. She never let success interfere with her individual welfare. Catherine created her own recipe to create a man that will be fully equipped for any good work.

From the reading pages 98-99; it displayed who Catharine McAuley was. She was not known by how much wealth she had but what she had done with it. The foundress was a woman of God who devoted her service to the people and to him. Her love, charitability, faithfulness and adaptability is something which many of us lack and these are the qualities I strived to achieve. Her charitability impacted me the most because she was a person who cared for the sick, the masses of poor and the underprivileged. She was a person who had a purpose, who did everything it took to achieve goals aided by guidance and courage in which she had an unlimited supply. I am positive that there would be none as close to what Catharine has done. Her foundation, the sisters of mercy, which still exists shows how successful Catharine was and is a true display of compassion, love and devotion to service. I want to be like Catharine, who did everything for the benefit of others, who had a purpose, who devoted everything to God without selfishness, without a second thought, to leave a deep mark in history is definitely inspiring. The Newspapers in Dublin, London and New York describe her as the following. “This truly pious and patriotic Irish woman should not drop into the tomb like those who leave no trace of usefulness to them.”

After that we can get some insight on Catherine Mc Auley’s life which was one of a loner. She hid it by forming her thoughts, prayers, her faith, and love because of being an outsider. She the only catholic in an anti-Catholic environment. Even with an environment not suited for her, she surrendered herself to God. For example, becoming a nun.

She learned how to accept stuff, she accepted the death of sister M. Elizabeth Harley, by surrendering because surrendering means obedience. For Catherine obedience makes the nun and comprises all her duties. She used chapter 10, on obedience, of Rodriquez for her first public lecture in Baggot street. She also recognized obedience was the most excellent of three vows. By her words obedience we return to God. She believes her trust in God led him to direct her to a path that was not so different from the one she wanted. We also get a reminder that from when she was very young she learned from her father to love God above all things even when she grew older. She told her novice in 1834 that we are made to copy Christ in His sanctity

Catherine's life was an expression of love of God through service of man. She believed that the deepest human need is the need of God and that the mission of the Sisters of Mercy was to portray Christ, to be love, be mercy, be tenderness, compassion, and inspiration to those with whom they lived and those whom they ministered. Catherine McAuley became a Lumen Christi, lightning up the darkness of ignorance and squalor which circumscribed the lives of the poor. She also epitomised Pope John XXIII in Pacem in Terris set forth as the duty of every believer, namely of being "a sparkle of light, a center of love, and a vivifying leaven among his fellowmen." Zacchaeus wanted to take pride in having half of his goods in the Kingdom, but Catherine surrendered all money, time, talents the allurements and trappings of fashionable society and most of all her life itself; she followed the example of Christ who emptied himself accepting death on a Cross and she chose to be poor but she was ready to pay the price of discipleship.

God never gives one individual all of His blessings. He did not give St. Peter what He did not give St. Paul. According to Catherine McAuley, "Meekness combined with charity makes people who possess it agreeable in their interactions with others and endows them with the peace of God which exceeds all understanding." It suggests a calm, self-assured, and brave soul. The Sisters should "hold towards each other a profound and real respect... and should attempt to resemble each other in exhibiting... a respectful demeanor; with honor, as St Paul defines it, preventing one another" as a result of this, which in turn creates its own fruit of refinement.

If a religious person hadn't studied Jesus Christ and formed her beliefs after following His example, she would be nothing in His eyes and would desire the Science of the Saints even though she was well-versed in all the sciences known to man at the time and distinguished for her sense, prudence, and elegance to win everyone's admiration. When Mother Catherine addressed her new and usually very young superiors in humorous rhyme to entertain and relax them, as was the case with Sister M.

Catherine McAuley could be termed as a beatitudinal Christian because she was a person who was aware of material poverty which others she tried to alleviate. When Catherine devoted her life to Christ she saw that she would be a "gentle, patient, hardworking, humble, obedient, charitable and above all, simple and joyous person." Catherine McAuley surmounted all the surprises and obstacles of her life, she calls humility "the compendium of all the discipline of the religious life." Mother Catherine believed that the words "me" and "mine" should be eliminated from the vocabulary but she added that humility does not consist on words but in acts; to be real it must practical and it must be acquired through prayer. Catherine once said," God reserves special blessings for the humble soul but at the same time he requires that religious should be content with talent and that she uses them diligently. God never bestows his blessings on one person."

My personal reflection, I learned that Catherine McCauley was a hardworking woman who dedicated her life to helping the poor. She was an outgoing person who cared more about the poor than herself. She later established her own foundation, which was later on called the Sisters of Mercy. God defiantly sent her to work for the people on Earth. She made a significant difference by influencing individuals with her love. She was well-known for assisting others in any way she could. Because of what she had been through, she also did her best to care for them and also to protect women. . Catherine did not only made history, but she also made herself a legacy by running a successful organization that served the entire English speaking globe in the nineteenth century, allowing her to become more known to the interior whole.
