1923

The Beer Hall Putsch was a failed coup attempt by Adolf Hitler on November 8-9, 1923, aimed at overthrowing the German government. Hitler and his supporters took over a political meeting in a Munich beer hall, convincing the leaders there to help them take the revolution to Berlin. The next day, about 3,000 Nazis tried to march through Munich but were stopped by police gunfire. Hitler was arrested and found guilty of treason, and sentenced to five years in prison.

In 1924, Hitler served 8 months in prison and wrote Mein Kampf while in prison. Mein Kampf translates to "my struggle" which many people called manifesto. He talked about all the ways that Germany used to be great and how he would make it great again. In a little part of the book he blamed part of this to Jewish People. Mein Kampf then later become a best seller making all the people in Germany read this book. After leaving jail, the amount of followers doubled because of what he said about Germany.

The SS started as Adolf Hitler's small personal guard in April 1925 and grew into a powerful elite group within the Nazi Party. Led by Heinrich Himmler from 1929 to 1945, it expanded from fewer than 300 members to over 50,000.

In 1928, the Nazis won first 12 Reichstag seats. Twelve nazis were in that Reichstag compared to the Social Democrats that had 152 members which was the largest group.

1932

In 1932, Hitler ran against Paul von Hindenburg in the presidential election. He got 36.8 percent of the votes on the second ballot of the election. But, Hitler lost the election. He still gained popularity and it showed his large mass following.

In 1933, Hitler insisted that chancellorship was the only office he would accept. So he was offered chancellorship by Hindenburg on January 30, 1933. This basically gave him control over the government.

1934
