Takeaway #1: Africa The Developing World

In module #5, one of the key themes I learned from this module how Africa is a developing country and how it is underdeveloped. In the required reading the author talks about how it is not easy to change, like how people fall into bad habits, and adapting to change can be painful. In the developed world it needs to do its part to reform the international institutions that govern globalization. In which all this is correlated with professor Chu's module objective #2. In this I believe that Africa will still remain as being underdeveloped country on how people starve to death and poverty in Africa. Beside this the module video has also discussed about the hunger, and from what I have read that Conflict, extreme weather events, poverty, and instability collectively drive hunger in Africa. These issues lead to food shortages, limiting access to nutritious food. That is where I talk about the other point that I want to talk about and that is poverty and it was taught in this lecture video that we see half of the country is rich and the other is rich, where we see that more than 22 men are richer and females in the country. Finally, in the module #2 video we have also examined that Poverty in Africa is a complex and wide-ranging issue that impacts millions of lives every day. Political instability, uneven distribution of natural and government resources, and climate change all contribute to this multidimensional problem.

Takeaway #2: What Is The Middle East?

In module #6, one of the key themes I learned from this module is the middle. In the required readings the author has discussed in the article of “What The Hamas Attack Means For Israel "appears to discuss the recent Hamas attack on Israel and its broader implications. It likely covers the immediate impact of the attack, the response from the Israeli government, and the potential long-term effects on the region's stability. The image of a person taking a selfie in front of a burning tank could symbolize the chaos and the personal experiences of those involved in the conflict. In the book it discusses about Hamas and its attack was in response to Israel's continued occupation, blockade of Gaza, expansion of settlements, Israel's disregard for international law, as well as alleged threats to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the general plight of Palestinians. Besides this lecture module video has also discussed about foreign affairs and I have read that the ministry's role is to implement Israel's foreign policy, and promote economic, cultural, and scientific relations with other countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is located in the government complex in Givat Ram, Jerusalem. Israel Katz currently holds the Foreign Ministry post. Another module video #2 it also explored syria war and it started by high unemployment, corruption and lack of political freedom. Finally module video #3 it talks about the affairs of the middle east Escalating conflict across the Middle East has precipitated yet another humanitarian crisis. The ongoing conflict, which began on October 7, 2023 when Hamas forces attacked Israeli farming communities, has expanded into Lebanon. Perpetuating this cycle of violence, Iran recently fired at least 180 missiles into Israel. This shows how crisis is happening around the middle east as we are speaking.

Takeaway #3: South Asia

In this topic I have learned through three module videos and readings and they are: South Asia, The Brettonwoods system and Foreign affairs. So lets talk about South Asia it Prospects of an economic rebound in South Asia are firming up as growth is set to increase by 7.1 percent in 2021 and in 2022, but growth is uneven and economic activity well below pre-COVID-19 estimates. South Asia have problems of overpopulation, poverty, unequal development, and unemployment. Alignment with either bloc can only bring war, political-social instability and economic depression. India’s approach to aligning with the US to counter China was ineffective and adversely affected its interests. What the author says about south asia that the remarkable rise in average income over the past centuries has produced massive global income equality as income growth it has out spaced in poorer regions and nations. In module video #2 it talks about the Bretton Woods agreement and system created a collective international currency exchange regime that lasted from the mid-1940s to the early 1970s. The Bretton Woods system required a currency peg to the U.S. dollar which was in turn pegged to the price of gold. The author talks about this system that established a system through which a fixed currency exchange rate could be created using gold as the universal standard. The agreement involved representatives from 44 nations and brought about the creation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. But the problem about this system it has failed until persistent US balance-of-payments deficits led to foreign-held dollars exceeding the US gold stock, implying that the United States could not fulfill its obligation to redeem dollars for gold at the official price. Lastly, Asia affairs in the module video #3 it talks about a stable, peaceful, and outward looking South Asia that joins East Asia's production networks will offer a counterpoint to China's economic predominance in the region and provide additional impetus and resilience to Asia's rise. The main issue is that people are leaving south asian countries because of long civil war, conflict, lack of employment, low per capita income, high inflation and lack of access to resources.

Guess what my answer is? I would say yes because there are ways to make a change, but no change is easy. Their ways to improve is by developing Africa to achieve better outcomes involves addressing a variety of factors. Here are some key areas to focus on:

1. Education: Improving access to quality education can empower individuals and communities, leading to better job opportunities and economic growth.

2. Healthcare: Strengthening healthcare systems to ensure that all people have access to medical care can improve overall health and productivity.

3. Infrastructure: Building and maintaining infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and electricity can support economic activities and improve quality of life.

4. Governance: Promoting good governance, transparency, and the rule of law can create a stable environment for development.

5. Economic Diversification: Reducing reliance on a single industry by diversifying the economy can make countries more resilient to economic shocks.

6. Sustainable Development: Focusing on sustainable practices can ensure that development benefits are long-lasting and do not harm the environment.

7. International Cooperation: Partnering with other countries and international organizations can provide the necessary resources and expertise to drive development.

Each of these areas requires coordinated efforts from governments, the private sector, and civil society to create a comprehensive and sustainable development strategy.
