For some an experience can cause someone to come of age. An example is in "Flowers" she became of age when she found the dead body. For others it can come slowly for example with Scout and Jem they are slowly learning respect and the bad things about the world, slowly becoming of age. I believe becoming of age means just how much you know about the world good and bad. For example when in "Flowers" when she found the dead body did she become more mature or just learn about something bad?

So going from a childhood to a manhood doesn't mean you just have to change physically but you can change mentally also. Mentally changing from a child to a man takes a event in place or something you have to get over and get through. Physically change takes time for your body to go through. Maturing into a man is different then changing into a man.
