The risks weren't considerably high although we had to speak to the site manager to ensure we had covered all the risks. These included mentioning the guard dog of the building and the potential trips and hazards on the floor. I then did the risk assessment for the Robert Powell - theatre scenes.  
I wanted to push for the theatre location as it was key to the film to have a good location for the green room scenes. I wanted to find somewhere that resembled a theatre green room but wasn't, as the theatres we had tried were either too expensive or not available to hire. I came across a place called Hemsley House

They wanted somewhere such as the Royal Exchange. I wasn't hopeful that we could rent the room out there but I wanted to try anyway. Myself and the locations manager, searched for all the local theatres around. These included the Royal Exchange, Palace theatre, Opera house, Peel building, Salford Arts Theatre and Footlights theatre.
After speaking to numerous of these locations we found it difficult to be able to film somewhere such short notice and the prices were out of our budget. The producer gave us a £60 budget for this location. 
I spoke to the producer about a possible location for the Casey and Morgan which was Croft Street, I spoke to the director and showed images from Google Maps so she could visualise the scene. 
We started to phone the places we thought we were least likely to get but the ones the director suggested first. These price ranges were not feasible. Then we researched smaller theatres such as Salford Arts Theatre and Footlights although these weren't the directors preferable choice.

As Production Assistant I knew my job role meant helping other crew members. I made the decision to help the location co-ordinator as there were numerous locations that were needed and I felt as though I could assist in the task at hand. We went to the Robert Powell Theatre and the Maxwell Hall at the University to find contact details for a manager of the building. We also wanted to do a recci of the green room / back room. I emailed the manager of Maxwell Hall (See photo's below). Helping on set, such as setting equipment up and time checking.
There was a potential risk when the mug was being kicked. I guided the shot whilst Lewis caught the mug, I made sure it was safe and no risk or injury. We used a blanket to catch the mug and moved everyone away that could be hurt during the take.
I moved all the equipment out of the room because it was in shot and the entire space needed to be clear. I placed everything in a safe space to ensure no-one tripped or fell. 
Ensured safety of cast and crew, making sure risks were minimised. The weather was cold and it was raining on and off quite heavily. This was difficult to deal with for everyone on set and it caused technical problems. It made everyone more determined to get the scene finished though. I held the umbrellas over the light stands whilst the equipment was being set up. We only wanted the people who were needed to be outside to the actors waited inside until I called to bring them out. 
Logging each shot was difficult because of the rain. The papers kept getting wet and I couldn't write as much description for the editor. I didn't manage to log all the times, partly because it was hard to communicate with the crew in between takes and it was hard to write and hold an umbrella to protect the documents. 
I had been taking photos whilst on set and suggested I could take photos for the Editor to post on the Instagram page. I sent over photo's I had already and started to take more photos on set. 
The outside scene was on a street which people walked passed often. It was my responsibility to let members of the public know we were filming and wouldn't be a minute or tell them that it was okay to carry on walking.  
The actor (Daisy), was cold during the takes as she couldn't wear her coat. I held onto it and gave it to her in between each take so she would feel more comfortable whilst filming took place.
I drove the equipment back to the New Adelphi and made sure it got safely back  ready for the next location.

Second location - tv acting studio 

Collected the gym mats, the room was being used so we had to wait 20 minutes which I was worried would affect filming times but I was ensured it wouldn't be a problem as we had to wait for the TV studio to be free. I made sure the mats were safely placed so it wouldn't be a risk for anyone walking passed. 
I helped take the equipment into the room and set the bed together along with helped the set for continuity to last weeks technical rehearsal. 
I took this opportunity to take more pictures for instagram as the set design and the lighting looked really good. I called the time out for the cast and crew so they knew how long was left to shoot as well as the daily logs.

The lines changed for the news reporter which I logged in the script and the log. I time checked as we only had the room for  a limited time and it took a lot of takes before the director was happy with the take. 
I helped pack the equipment away and then I drove back and dropped it off at the Robert Powell ready for the next scene.

I had an appointment so I asked the producer if I could find someone to cover me for an hour. When I arrived there had only been two takes which meant I hadn't missed much. I logged for each shot which was hard as the set was in total darkness so I had to place myself at the back of the theatre and use a torch so I could see. 
I then helped with the clapper board for a few takes and helped with sound as George wasn't in. 
I helped pack the equipment away and made sure the room was tidy and kept the way it was before we arrived.

Logged and time checked,  called quiet on set. I also played an extra of Casey's Mother as a last minute decision whilst Stanka (cinematographer/lighting) logged each take. I found it difficult being an extra as it was outside of my job role but as PA it is also my job to assist in any way I can both inside and outside of the set. 
I helped take equipment to the 7th floor and then went to collect sand bags as it was windy on the roof. We wanted to use the sand bags to place over the equipment. 
When we got outside the weather was too windy so sound decided it was best to ADR the scene. This meant I had to follow the lines of the script and note down any changes to the script to make it easier in the studio, which may not be for another few weeks. 
I found todays shoots the most challenging due to the weather. It was difficult to log and I felt as though the momentum of the cast and crew had dropped a little. Collected the gym matts that were needed for rehearsal and helped props and set. ensured that the equipment that was outside the room was placed safely in the corner to avoid anyone tripping over them. 
When we were doing the set design there was a few safety rules we had to follow and the technicians were putting up tall walls for the bedroom scene. This meant we all had to wait away from the set, it was part of my role to make sure that cast and crew were safe on set.

The Editor suggested not to provide the audio file names for her as it was easier for her to listen to it and go through them on the computer than read it from the sheet. Also told the editor that I am logging the good / bad shots so that it saves the editor coming in on every set when she was needed it in the editing suite. 
The first location (Scene 6B) went well visually but sounds from outside caused some of the takes to be unusable. I kept the time for this scene, we only had an hour to film meaning the cast and crew needed to be cautious of time. 
The afternoon shoot in the dressing room ( Scene 10), was challenging at times. I assisted in time checking and calling actors on set. The room we filmed in was small so everyone had to wait in a separate room including myself . I found this difficult because it made it difficult to get an accurate log of each take. After each shot I made sure to communicate between sound, camera and the director so they could inform me as the takes went. I also took the opportunity to make sure cast and crew that were waiting in the other room were silent whilst filming as the director pointed out that she could hear talking from the room. 
For the second half of the filming I did the clapper board to help on set as no-one else offered to take this role. I didn't mind, although it was challenging to log the takes and then quickly set the clapper board again ready for the next take. 
After finishing the scene I helped pack away the equipment and rewrote the daily log for the editor as the writing was rushed between some of the takes. I then rewritten log to the editor.

We acted with a professional manner and the woman who greeted us was friendly and welcoming. When we got to the room we heard a fridge humming, which we didn't notice until today. I asked to turn the fridges off to stop the sound, this solved the problem. The lights were too bright for the cinematographer so I also asked if they could be turned off, which helped the lighting. I posted pictures on the group chat for directions on the building as well as a photo of the outside of it. I waited by the doors to let the cast and crew through and show them to the room. Took pictures of where all the tables and chairs go so we could put it all back in the right place. 
As well as logging (see photo's below) I time checked so cast and crew knew how long was left for each scene / shot. 
Filming at Hemsley House was exciting for all the cast and crew because it was across the road from University and the room looked like a green room of a theatre, even though it's a function room. 
We didn't encounter many problems during the takes, one member of the cast couldn't be there but the director and producer managed to sort out any issues.
Helped packed away and set the room back to the way it was using the photos I took earlier to help.

I greeted extras and signed release forms at the gates of the building. The turn out for extras wasn't as big as we had hoped for so I stepped forward to be an extra for the protest scene. Feeling concerned I couldn't log the producer said I they didn't require to for this scene but I did keep a check on the good takes and bad takes, alongside the editor who was also on set. Afterwards, I helped pack the equipment away.  
Roof top scene- continuity, logging shots and operating boom mic as other member of sound was absent. It was raining and windy, whilst outside we used umbrellas to shield the mic but they picked up the water from the umbrella. After a few takes we realised that it was impossible to record the sound despite our attempts to resolve the issue.
Whilst logging the shots I found it difficult because the papers kept getting wet, I decided to wait inside by the door and log from there. I had to leave half an hour early to go to work but I showed a member of the crew who was able to take my place. He is also going to be doing the same role as me for the next film, therefore good practise.
