One of the most important elements of a song is the inspiration behind it. It can be anything from a chair to your girlfriend, from your past struggles to your uncertainty for the future. Anything can make a good song as long as you put the right words to it.

Another important element of the song is the words used to sing it. It has to be understandable so that the listener won't strain themselves trying to understand the message of the song, and colorful and creative enough to paint a picture inside the listener's minds.

I mostly come up with my first drafts of the songs I wrote while walking my dog at night. Its usually really quiet and it helps you think. Looking around at the trees and night sky also helps with visualizing a song. When I get home, I usually put them to paper and tested them out with some random chords on my guitar. Sometimes, when the words don't fit the melody, you have to change stuff to get your final product.

Most of the songs I wrote have either a ballad or lullaby feel. This is probably because I really, really love slow songs. As much as I like fast, danceable songs, I would choose a slow song that would make you think.
