I think floatation of the pound can be compared to the stock market crash in the 1930's which lead to the Great Depression. Basically the devaluing of a currency. Inflation. There are alot of pounds going around so it's less valuable and could eventually lead to some sort of depression in Egypt

Floating currency means that the currency is so light/soft (costs less), so it starts to float around, usually at an unstable rate. An inflating currency usually leads to poverty and decreases trades with other countries, which then leads to minimal foreign imports.

If you take the meaning of FLOAT literally with the currency it means that the value of the Egyptian pound is lowered (floated) based on the water level (demand for the dollar). Because Egyptians are always buying from others it drives the Pound lower. On top of that very little is sold from Egypt meaning the Egyptian pound is always being given away and there is very little demand for the currency.

Flotation is the egyptian pound compared to other hard currencies, based on its supply and demand to put it at a fixed rate. Egypt took this decision in order to able to take the multi billion dollar imf loan, that will help in the long run. helmy
