More than 5,000 Cherokee die as a result of the journey. The series of relocations of Native American tribes and their hardships and deaths during the journey would become known as the <a href="https://www.history.com/topics/native-american-history/trail-of-tears">Trail of Tears</a>.</div>]]></description>
