         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Wisconsin Civics Fellows are kicking off this spring with a series of webinars with trusted resource partners.  These webinars will focus on great, free or mostly free, non-partisan civics and social studies resources from organizations such as iCivics, PBS Wisconsin, and The Discussion Project.  </p><p><br></p><p>A number of our Civics Fellows will host and facilitate the webinars, and will use the final 10-15 minutes to talk about how the presented resources align to the recommended civics &amp; social studies scope &amp; sequence released in October 2023. Instead of answering his student's question, "Who made Menomonie?" he taught all of his students to be history detectives so they could answer the question themselves. He wanted them "to see that there are individuals, groups, and institutions who have affected, and are affected by, the history of the community they are from." Join Dr. Michelle Sarche to learn more about how the field has evolved and grown, how Indigenous scholars are increasingly leading the way in child development research, and most importantly, what the research literature tells us about Indigenous children’s development, and the factors within their families, communities, and peer networks that influence their development.
