The in's and out's of motor skills; and why your child needs them!

Physical development is a key component to a child's overall development. Your infant will need engaged activities that promote both gross and fine motor skill mastery. Many people do't realize the importance of such skills. Fine motor skills in a toddler, for instace, will look as easy as them picking up finger foods to feed themselves. They are using their pincher fingers, thus demonstrating a key fine motor skill. That small step evolves into lacing, buttoning, connecting legos, connecting bristle blocks, finger painting and ultimately writing. All skills that show mastery in fine motor skills. Gross motor skills are just as important! Below, you will find articles and videos that will help you understand the importance of physical development for your child. You will also find a wonderful guide that lists the benchmarks for a child's developmental standards from ages birth to kindergarten. It is a great tool to have when wondering what else your child could be learning to master for their age group.
