My travel experience by Chris

Think about a place you visited recently (home or overseas). Consider the overall experience of that place*, and: identify something that exceeded your expectations; identify something that was not as good as hoped; and think about why these outcomes occurred and reflect on on the ways in which the tourism industry can be linked to both the positive and negative aspects of your travel experience. You can post a photo from your experience (if you have one) to illustrate some of those points. Please comment on other participants' posts.

I have visited Australia recently. My first impression when I came here is the ancient and massive architechture. I think these buildings are attracting many people to come to Australia. However, the cost in Australia is quite expensive for me. I think there is some package tours or walking tours, which are more affordable, for more people to travel here.

I recently visited Europe, traveling through parts of Italy and France. One thing that exceeded my expectations was the cultural and environmental attractions. Places like the Cinque Terre costal walk and Blue Beach, Nice were visually stunning and rich in historical context. Local guides and food tours offered insights into local cultures and traditions. A downfall, however, was the overwhelming crowds, especially since it was peak summertime in Europe - made some parts of the trip less enjoyable and rushed. So, on the positive side there is clear respect for heritage and enhancing visitor experiences, but on the negative, there is a lack of crowd management and cleanliness.

I visited Hamilton Island earlier this year. Something that exceeded my exceptions was the abundance of land and water activities available. This is a place where you can relax by the pool, or also fill your itinerary with the many activities available. Something that was not as good as we hoped was the weather conditions, as towards the end of the trip this was around the time Cyclone Alfred was starting to form. The downpours and windy conditions cancelled all water activities and boat days. This means for tourists it can be a risky time to commit to travel. Positively, due to the topical conditions these downpours can be over quickly, unless there is a cyclone forming.

I recently travelled to Melbourne.

The sheer amount of food places around where we were staying was very different for me to experience. There were also lots of mini Woolworths and BWSs around, which was different from Adelaide but admittedly very useful.

The Melbourne Aquarium was a bit underwhelming. They have a big section of jellyfish, but most of the tanks they have only have a few jellyfish in them each, making the whole section look a bit boring and overall underwhelming. There were other elements that made the overall experience okay, but it's safe to say that the Melbourne Aquarium is no Sydney Aquarium.

There are obviously specific areas of Melbourne that have a higher permanent and traveler population. The CBD is one of these areas and therefore has alot of touristy things. The tourism in the Melbourne CBD area would be one of the reasons why there are lots of restaurants and convenience stores in the area.

The Melbourne Aquarium is an advertised tourist attraction. Part of the reason why I found the aquarium underwhelming is because I have already experienced something similar in Sydney. Another reason could also be because the place looked cooler online than it did in person. Obviously part of advertising is to make things look as appealing as possible to make a profit, but the actual experience wasn't as cool as my expectations.

At the end of last year, I travelled to Barcelona. The culture and the diverse range of stores, from small convenience stores to food places, are all located next to each other. It was a different experience for me compared to living in Adelaide, as everything was so convenient and around me. A downfall was the main areas of the city, where people would approach you to sell various items, and the overcrowded crowds, which made the experience less enjoyable due to the pickpocketing we had witnessed. These incidents likely occurred because it was a good time of year to visit, which means you can expect larger crowds. Tourists should be thoughtful and careful about their surroundings, whether they're staying there or anywhere else. Overall, it was a positive experience, except for the pickpocketing and overcrowded crowds.

Earlier this year, I traveled to San Francisco. The iconic Golden Gate bridge exceeded my expectations with incredible views and history behind the design. However visiting Fisherman's wharf was overcrowded and very overpriced, which took away from the overall experience. This suggests that while tourism attracts economic growth through increased spending, it can also reduce tourism satisfaction through negative factors such as overcrowding.

the place that I recently visited would be Adelaide, australia. overall it was a very new and good experience for me as it was my first international travel. The thing that exceeded my expectations would be the number of busy people that were all running towards their work. Something that was not as good as I hoped would be the fun or excitement in this city that I could not get. The reasonn for that would be the less number of good places to visit or have fun overall. This can be improved through opening of different places for activities accessible by everyone.
