My opinion on this is in the middle kinda this because it is bad on the labor conditions , and child labor. But the problem is clothes are a necessity in life and some stores charge way too much for clothes, So we lean towards clothes that are cheaper that we can afford. If we do continue nothing will change, but if we stop then there is a chance in will go on but if it does stop then there's the problem of the cost of clothes and etc. It does make me think and I know this may sound bad , but I can't take worrying every time I go to buy something if this effects the problem. This because it is hard enough to buy clothes already , So I don't want to make it worse and take more than a hour to buy clothes. Also I give old clothes to good will , So that get good use not causing pollution, But I see no way to stop the labor problems though. Also there is the question that even if the job is horrible what if the people over there can't afford to be able to lose it to support their families , So what happens when we take their one way of getting income from them and they can't survive. There is effects to good and bad that even if you try to do good it can effect others in a bad way. Things always come with consequences.

Cheap clothes may be good for us because we don't have to spend a fortune on what we wear. But cheap clothes are not a great things for the people who make them. Yes, they do have a job and are getting paid, but they aren't getting paid well and the conditions in their work place are terrible. Many of the people who make cheap clothes have gotten sick or died. And at what cost? Something that comes and goes in the fashion trends. Something we may throw away a couple months later after we buy it because it isn't interesting anymore. But sadly there isn't much that we, the buyers, can do about this. Not buying the clothes will not stop them from making the clothes. It's sad that people have to suffer just for our trends just because it's cheaper to make clothes in poorer countries.

Well, in my perspective we have to be open to both sides. If we stop buying clothes, those people making the clothes, won't get paid, and the companies who pay the people, won't get paid either, which is not necessarily good for anyone's cultural economy. Although if we keep buying these clothes, we are promoting the businesses to keep treating those people poorly. So I'm stuck in the middle, and I really don't know what we should do to help both sides out. It really made me think about where my clothes come from, and how others were treated because of the high clothing demand.

The problem with cheap clothing is that companies don't want to be in the U.S because there is more incentives for them to stay in countries with less regulations. There as many problems involved in cheap clothing and no answer is perfect. Boycotting them would kind of work but then you lose the business and they sell their products in other countries. One of the many problems we have is a minimum wage which forces businesses to pay a certain amount which companies get by by cutting hours, then government puts more regulations then the companies. A minimum wage is anti-capitalist and goes against how our economy works. We should encourage nationalism not globalism. To sole these problems we need government to step back so companies have huge incentives to stay in the U.S preventing child labor and practically slavery. If we refuse to buy their clothes they might leave or come back. Buying cheap clothes doesn't help the situation either because the companies grow and more people become workers. It's a tricky situation going on.

And companies should start to make more clothing warehouses in the U.S. this article did make me think, because the people making our clothes get payed so little and the conditions are awful for them. I thought about how much better we have it and how under appreciated we are.

This article tells about the hardships that American clothing companies make people in lesser developed countries go through. They work in awful conditions and are in very poor health. The clothing production industry is very dangerous and has led to many injuries in the past, and, in certain cases, even death. The conditions these workers go through are just terrible, and they don't even get paid well. These people barely get enough money to buy one meal, so pretty much, if you miss a day of work, you don't eat. I don't believe we need to stop buying these clothes, but we definitely should buy less, much less.

People around the world should not be getting hurt because us spoiled Americans want our clothes for cheaper. The adults and children working in the factory work so they can literally have enough money for one pair of clothes and hopefully some food, and we're still complaining about the cost of clothes. I think if we stop buying cheap clothes, Americans will be enraged, but lives in these other countries will be safer, people should not have to slave for us, so we can have cheaper clothing. This article definitely made me think about my clothing, and how much of it really is made in America.

The cost of cheap clothes has many factors. On one side, the cost of cheap clothes should go up. This is so that the actual workers who are making them can receive more pay. Right now they are receiving about 1/3 of our minimum wage here in the United States. On another side, the cost of cheap clothes should go down. This is so that the consumers and distributors of these cheap clothes will be discouraged from buying from these poor working condition factories. Hopefully this would mean that working conditions would improve and the selling price would also go up. We should try to buy clothes that were mad in the United States so that we know that the working conditions that these clothes were made are standard. This article made me think more about buying domestically.

Yes, fashion has become a very popular thing these last few years, and people think that finding cheap clothes is a very rare thing. However, hundreds of people have had to risk their lives just to satisfaction our needs. If we didn't buy as many clothes, then there wouldn't be as much of a demand for new clothes, meaning that there would need to be less labor, saving more lives. We should only buy clothes if we absolutely need more clothes. If you are not going to use a piece of clothing anymore, use the old cloth as a cleaning rag. This will help reduce the landfill of clothes across the world.

I think that the way that cheap clothes are made is bad, but the only good that comes out of it is the fact that it cheaper to buy. I think we should try to stop buying cheap clothes because eventually it will tell the people in the market to stop producing them, which will possibly stop them from making people work in those bad conditions. The way that our clothes are made is terrible for those who had to work to make them. We think of our clothes as a simple item but we don't really see what is truly behind it all. I never really thought about where my clothes come from or how they are made, but this article really opened up my eyes on a new perspective.

My position on cheap clothes, that even though they are cheap, they are solid clothes to wear. I think in my opinion that we should keep buying them. If it’s one of the only ways people will get their wages, why not? If we did not buy cheap clothes, the company would not earn profit, which would also result where people start losing wages. Plus if we also stopped paying for cheap clothes, we would be paying for really expensive clothing. This made me think, I wonder why cheap clothes companies do not pay their workers enough when a lot of people are already buying a lot of what they care selling; especially when the price is great.

I think that the cost of cheap clothes is good and bad. Cheap clothes can be helpful because it is more cost efficient. I think that we should cut down on our purchases of cheap clothes because they are coming from places where we are unsure if the conditions are safe, and the process of making them is hurtful to the environment. An alternative to buying low quality but new cheap clothes is buying higher quality used clothes. There are many stores, such as Good Cents in Geneva, that will buy your used clothes from you and resell them to others cheaper then what you would buy low quality clothes. Many times, you can find unworn clothes with the tags still on them, because people buy things and then change their mind. This is a better alternative then throwing clothes away because it is reusing and repurposing them which is better for the environment.

If everyone stopped there would be a massive change and many companies would go out of business but that would never happen. It is up to the company to get the factories in other countries to improve conditions or move production to a more regulated country and it is our job to speak up and pressure these companies. These clothes are also the only way some people can dress because not everyone can afford expensive designer clothing. This article definitely made me think about where my clothes came from. I already knew about the main part of this but as the article dug deeper, I got more interested as to how these clothes came to be.

Obviously, I love cheap clothes, because who doesn’t? However, I do not agree on the process in which they are made. These labor conditions are awful, and they absolutely should get paid more and work in better environments. This doesn’t mean though, that the price of clothes has to skyrocket. The profits made by the factories can be reduced and used to repair the buildings over time. The prices of clothes goes up to help pay for the salaries of the workers as well. This article made me think about the clothes I buy, and I was oblivious to the obvious. Clothes can’t be made cheaper with the same working conditions and pay.

I think that cheap clothes should be made a different way, not including using children to make them. I think it would be good to stop buying cheap clothes, but you don’t necessarily have to. It would be better if we stopped because then all these poor people could finally live a life of freedom for once. If we keep on buying them, then things will remain the same or increase because of popularity. This article did make me think about where my clothes come from in a different way than what I originally thought. I thought that they might’ve just been made in a normal factory. Not one with all these hazards and limits on how long you can be gone. If you miss a day, then you’re fired? This just isn’t right.

However, if they need to become a little bit more expensive for safety to be increased, I would be fine with that. In order to continue to buy these articles I have to do my research, and see what company’s will take the extra step to improve working conditions. This story definitely made me think about the clothing industry. They only care about themselves and making a profit. The people who work in those factories are humans, not machines. They need breaks and days off to recover. They can’t just live off the bare minimum pay. Everyone needs some luxury’s

The clothes that we wear on our backs is the same clothing that children and women are forced to slave over for countless hours for little pay. If at least half of our clothes were produced in the United States, we could avoid a lot of issues such as the collapse of the Bangladesh factory that happened by over filling the building with workers. I believe that we shouldn't stop buying it, but perhaps move the factories over to the United States where the workers can work in better conditions.

However, the other country's workers that make the clothing are put under bad working conditions. Children are forced into labor at a young age because job wages are so low. Working conditions cause women sewing to continue work even if they are sick and can possibly even lead to death. These low wages and bad conditions are the cause of prices being so cheap in America. I am currently completely broke, so of course I would rather buy cheaper clothes, but then again I really don't need more clothes. The people making this clothing are treated awfully, barely paid, and have to stay in awful working conditions everyday; is that really worth a $10 shirt? I think we should reduce the amount of cheap clothing we buy. I know it would be very hard to completely stop buying cheap clothing and maybe even a little naive for me to say. Ya they are cheap and that's helpful when buying things, but I really don't buy clothes unless I know that these will be something I wear for a long time. Most clothes that are like that tend to be a little more expensive, but if you simply wear them enough, your saving a lot of money you would've spend buying new cheap clothes all the time. I think we should try to stop buying these kinds of clothes just because of how much it would help people, but everyone loves buying cheap clothes. This movement would be nearly impossible to pull off because everyone likes these clothes. Even if you did pull this off, this may hurt some people.
All people should make the change to stop buying cheap clothing from companies who don't treat their workers like human beings. If we continue to buy clothes from these companies even more accidents and fatalities can occur since the workers do not have proper working conditions. Not only do these workers have terrible conditions, but they also only get $2-3 an hour. They even risk getting fired if they are sick or have to skip a day. This article really opened up my eyes to this crisis that is happening right in front of us. Most of the clothing I buy is from the companies that do not treat their workers with respect, and so in result this article made me not want to continue shopping at those stores.

Child labor maybe involved which is bad. However, we should not stop buying these clothes. The people in third world countries have to make a living to survive somehow.
