The Shang Dynasty was the first dynasty that is in written records. This is important because we don't know if there was a dynasty before the Shang Dynasty.

Zhou Dynasty: 1045-256 BCE

The early leaders of the Zhou Dynasty created the "Mandate of Heaven". This is important because the Mandate of Heaven lets the people of the dynasty rebel against the ruler. They could rebel because the ruler could be unfairly taxing them, or if they were abusing the role of being a ruler.

Warring States Period: 700-221 BCE

Confucianism and Daoism Developed: 500 BCE

Confucius was a thinker, he came up with ways people should behave and live. He also focused on people behaving with respect, politeness, and fairness. He also thought that honoring your relatives was required.

Legalism Developed: 250 BCE

Prince Zheng was born in 259 BC. His father was the ruler of the Qin Dynasty. He became king at thirteen years old.

Qin Dynasty: 221-210 BCE

Once King Zheng had complete control over the Qin dynasty he set off trying to conquer the other dynasties. Once he ruled all of China he named himself: Shi Huang which means "first emperor".

Han Dynasty: 206 BCE-220 CE

Most of the Chinese culture came from this dynasty. Han Dynasty ran for over 400 years. It was the second Imperial dynasty.
