1. The world is getting warmer. The average global surface temperature is rising each year.
2. Its because of us. Carbon dioxide amounts in the air have increased by half since the 1960s.
3. We're sure. 9 out of 10 scientists agree carbon dioxide emissions are the main cause of global warming.
4. Ice is melting fast. Seas could rise 3 feet by 2100.
5. Weather is wreaking havoc. The number of climate related disasters has tripled since 1980.
6. Species are being disrupted. Animals and plants are vanishing from parts of their range that are now too hot.
7. We can do something about it. Renewables are projected to triple by 2040.

Food insecurity: Crop yields and fish have started to decrease, which can especially impact indigenous communities.
Infectious Diseases: Infectious diseases, especially by mosquitoes, are increasing due to climate change.
Mental Health: Extreme weather events such as wildfires and hurricanes cause so much stress and anxiety that they can lead to post-traumatic stress disorder and even suicide in the long run.

What actions can we take to prevent future outbreaks? In the process, she says, they can look for new ways to reduce waste and emissions, such as getting more hospitals using renewable energy. Scientists can also give early heat warnings and dedicated cooling centers and more resilient supply chains.
