-	Hey Amaury, What’s up ?
-	Hey Nina, I was just reading an article about the German police. They thought they had found a WW2 Bomb which was in fact a courgette. Aha I cant’ belive it, it’s hilarious !
-	No way !
-	Last month, in Bretten, a town in the south-west Germany, a man discovered a World War Two bomb in his garden.
The man was scared that the bomb could blow up at any moment. He ran to his phone and called the police.
The demining of the bomb began then the Police realized that the bomb was just a big courgette.
-	But how could you ever mix up the two?
-	Because the elderly man knew a lot of the bombs dropped during the war were unexploded. He was worried, but now, he feels a bit stupid but reassured. The policeman agreed however that the courgette looked like a bomb.
5 kilograms for 40 centimeters, that’s gigantic !
-	More weird news, Have you seen this couple that built a doll’s house using only Lego?
-	No, wow that’s crazy!
-	Can you imagine the number of hours and amount of money they had to spend on it. I guess it kept them occupied for a few months, building the 15 rooms Lego house. They began in October !
-	Don’t they have anything else to do in their free time?
-	Aha, the article says that they used 350 000 Lego bricks to build this 2.4 m high doll’s house. Even the candelabras are lightsabers from the Star Wars Lego collection. It even says that it’s not their first building made in Lego! They have already built angels, cathedrals and even a Christmas themed Dalek.
-	Dalek ?
-	Yes, you know these baddies in Doctor Who. The couple started to make Lego Christmas decorations for their family in 1993. They are supposed to be finished before the festivities but obviously their grown up children are too embarrassed to join in and help. The couple also admitted that they are starting to run out of ideas for the next year that’s why this year was less creative than the previous years. They just built a model of the couple’s Victorian house located in the Cambridgeshire.
-	What an original idea instead of the old looking Christmas Crib! By the way, have you heard about the implosion attempt?
-	What do you mean by attempt?
-	It happened on December the 3rd, contractors had planned to implode the Pontiac Silverdome located in Detroit. They disposed explosive charges all around the stadium. The blasts were supposed to break it. However, after the explosions, the Silverdome was still standing. They were just a few puffs of smoke nothing else!
The Adamo group who were awarded the demolition contract commented that mistakes happen. It must have been a problem with the wires.
-	Stupid engineers! With Christmas coming, I’ve been looking at Christmas events happening in the UK and I found this, SantaCon! Have you already heard about it?
-	No, tell me more about it.
-	It’s a non-profit, non-political and non-religious event. Basically it’s a Christmas parade. It traditionally takes place in London one Saturday every December. This year, it took place the 9th. It’s an event in which you dress up in Father Christmas suits, give presents, sing Christmas songs, have strangers sitting on your knees and decide who is naughty or nice. Just like Father Christmas!
-	It sounds a bit corny.
-	Maybe but obviously it’s also a big party held in the streets, reuniting thousands of people, in which you drink wine and eat mince pies to celebrate Christmas. And if i remember correctly, this event first took place in San Francisco in 1994 and spread through time to many other cities such as New York, Portland, London or even Tokyo. It’s a great idea to celebrate all together, don’t you think?
-	It’s not my cup of tea; I’m not really into that sort of thing. Oh guess what I read about this news a few weeks ago. I thought of you because I remembered your love for dogs.
-	Good memory Amaury! What’s this news?
-	It was on the night of November 14th, in Arkansas, a 52-year-old, James Randle, introduced himself in a neighbour’s house and tried to sexually aggress a 6-year-old girl. This man was already known by the police services for many nudity cases. Indeed the man has been seen a few times naked in front of schools.
-	That’s horrible, why are you telling me that?
-	It’s coming! Where was I? Oh Yes, so he introduced himself into the girl’s bedroom. The parents “didn’t hear thing at first” as they declared to the policemen afterward. But the family’s dog, Holy, must had because he intensely injured the paedophile. Three big bites were reported as the man was going to hospital, followed by two policemen. The little girl was in shock for a little wile and didn’t go to school for a couple of days but she’s now better. The parents managed to calm down their daughter. The little girl spends even more time playing with Holy, the family’s dog which saved the little girl’s life. And the paedophile, James Raidle was sentenced to a 5 years’ incarceration.
-	What a reassuring ending… To make you laugh a bit, last week, a friend told me about this crazy story. Swiss authorities are investigating money being flushed down the toilets.
-	Unbelivable !
-	According to my friend, a dozen 500E bank notes have been flushed down the toilets in several restaurants in Geneva. This is similar to another story a few months ago where 500E bank notes were chopped up with scissors and stuffed down the toilets of a bank.
-	I already heard this story but it can’t be true.
-	No it is true! The bank notes were discovered because they were clogging up the pipes. What’s more shocking. On the BBC they said that « In Switzerland, it’s not a crime to destroy money ». But in the European Union it is. So now Switzerland is phasing out the production of these bank notes.
-	Oh God, Sorry, I have to go, I have English class in two minutes.
-	Bye.

Exercice Pecha Kucha 2017

Oral Pécha Kucha

2. For my English presentation, I’m going to present you 3 of my project. The first one have been done on April of this year. It’s a project on the Eastpak brand. The second project is a photographic project made last decemberon the two courts in Nantes, the Radssion Blue and the new court on l’île de Nantes. The last one was my personal project of last year on Slow Fashion.

Workshop : Commercial Space :

3. For this first project, we were 6 to work on the Eastpak, a popular luggage brand, for a week. We did our researches before starting to create our concept space.

4. Concerning the storefront, we wanted to put the comigore theme in it for that the people would be able to recognize the brand from outside. We also wanted to put the textures, colors which we can find on their luggage. We can find a large wooden structure in a rib cage shape which contains a bag inside and two skeleton hands can hold bags.

5. A massive structure, inspired by the museography in natural history museum, is the key element in our concept. It’s almost the only furniture in the store. Because we wanted to integrate the comigore theme coming from their image of communication in the space, we decided to do a real scenography.

6. The open structure, entirely built with wood, allows people to roam inside and next to it. It’s also a display stand for the most beautiful bags such as their limited edition ones. In this structure, each bag reminds the people of an important event of the brand and its history. It offers more of an experience more than a commercial space.

7. At the back of the store, there’s the interactive wall which allows a new experience for the clients. It displays the various models (bags, suitcase..) each sorted by themes with different objects. With the textures projection on the bags, the clients can totally personalize these bags.

8. This is the model we built for this project. This would be the way it looks in daytime and here in nightime. The lighting of the store is mainly white to stay in this sober look of the interior. In contrary, the lighting of the storefront is more discreet and with an orange tone to it to suit the comigore theme.

Architectural Analysis :

9. With the Architectural Analysis lesson, we visited two establishment, which have in commun, laws. Indeed, Firstly we visited the Radisson Blue, the former law court which is now a luxurious hotel located in the center of Nantes. And secondly, we visited the new law court located on l’île de Nantes, built by Jean Nouvel in 2000.

10. The common point of these two law establishment is reflection. So, with my work partner, we decided to photograph many of these reflections to show the beauty of these two different buildings.

11. At the Radisson Blue Hotel, we could see more colors, more light and architecture in the reflections. They feel very artistic by the way they can be broken appart. On the contrary, the reflections we can found at the new law court feel more regular, majestic and put in mind imprisonment and enclosure.

12. These photos come from the final selection. We can see the architecture with these vertical and horizontal lines and the town reflecting on the law court floor. We can easily be confused of the sense of these two photos so much the symmetry is almost perfect.

13. These photos also come from the final selection. These one have been taking in the Radisson Blue. We can see this more colorful atmosphere less formal. This space uses reflection to create illusions of a bigger rooms. For example with these stairs and wall.

14. This photo is my favorite because of its colors and angle of reflection. I think it’s very interesting because the reflection allows us to see more than you could really see and in a specific timetable. This reflection, located on the canopy, allows us to see the first floor’s colorful carpet and lights from the ground floor.

Personnel Project - Slow Fashion :

15. This documentary, called The True Cost, made me decide the theme of my personal project of last year, slow fashion. This documentary moved me and made me open my eyes on the real world of fashion. And I wondered if we could saw ourselves our own clothe.

16. I started to experience the capsule Wardrobe Experiment. This experience is in fact kind of a lifestyle in which you only dress yourself with a limited wardrobe containing 30 pieces for a 3 month period. We can change the content every 3 month in order to replace the necessity pieces according to the season.

17. I started to manufacture my own clothe. I actually managed to create only two pieces and an outfit. The first piece is this slitly oversized black tank top which can be worn in both daytime and nighttime.

18. This second piece is maybe the one I can wear the most because of its sobriety. It’s a simple tee-shirt dress which can be worn mostly during the day. However, you can wear it as a dress or as a tee-shirt. So It’s a convenient dress to have in a limited wardrobe experiment for example.

19. This last confection has definitely be the one that gave me a headache. It actually took me 3 days to saw this outfit because it made me focus on little but annoying technical details such as the sawing, the hems, the lining and the finishes. Eventually, these confection made me realize what time you actually needed to invest in the manufacture of your clothe.

Internship - Pecha Kucha 2018

Oral Pécha Kucha
1. Hello, I’m Nina; I’m a student in the third year of interior design at l’École de design de Nantes. For my Third year’s internship, Benoit and I worked for Franck Jouneau in his association named Un chateau dans le brume for two months (so September and October).

2. After doing a few short and long-length movies, Franck created in 2012, Un Château dans la brume, which is an association of production that aims at promoting media experiments in cinema, theater, and music.

3. There are two main figures in this association. So there is Franck Jouneau who was also our internship supervisor. He does all the directing of his films. Guy Autret is in charge of doing the writing of the scenario for the movies. And Simon Mary is the music composer of the soundtrack of the film.

4. To talk a bit of Franck, He started as a musician, traveling around Dublin, London, and Amsterdam. He studied 3D modeling in Nantes and was a professor in 2d and 3ds. But he creates short and long movies since 2008.

5. So he started with Des maitres pour l’éternité, a vampire movie in which the soundtrack has been created by the music academy’s students of Nantes. There’s also Le fantôme et l’immortelle. Le réveil d’hector which is the adaptation of his book. And others.

6. And for his short movies, we can find Ur Win Ur life which was his very first movie, La vie est trop belle pour y prendre part, Enter the Non time which is an English movie, Pommeraye a set of different fantastic stories and la fissure est à l’intérieur.

7. Last but not least, Jack Denett et le mystère de la statuette jaune, which Benoit and I worked on. It is a funny police series in which Jack Denett, a detective and Joe, his alien assistant, are in charge of finding a stolen Aztec statue.

8. During the shooting, the scenes were mostly inside, in this warehouse called la Vinaigrerie located in Le Pellerin. It’s a place where there is a lot of events such as art exhibits. We also shoot on Le bac, this boat. And also in a private property called La foret de Bambou.

9. These people were a few members of the shooting team. There was Franck Jouneau, Orlanda who was in charge of the footage. Benoit, the boom operator, and Laura, the makeup artist. Joe and Jack, the main actors. And Marc, the owner of the place.

10. Here you can find the twin sister, Claire and Sophie the bodyguards, Léandro, was the Brazilian dancer for the last scene, Michel also an actor for the ritual scene. And all kinds of extras.

11. So we had to create 6 different sets in the 60S theme: so we had to do a museum warehouse, an English living room, a policeman’s office, a prison cell, another office and a room for ritual practice while using the maximum of furniture already there.

12. At first, we did like we used to do in school projects, we searched for illustrations and inspirational pictures. These mood board allowed us to see the 60s decor and the typical objects of this period.

13. After listing and select what furniture was going in which set, we did some simple designs to place the furniture in the 15 m2 limited area. We did it simply because we knew that the set would change.

14. And we also did SketchUp 3D views of the sets to have a better final view. So was the view of the museum warehouse with a view from the top and this is the English style living room with the same top view.

15. For the prison cell, we thought of putting a bed, some fake prison bars, a simple table, and a simple book shelve. And for the ritual room, we thought of installing a stage to make the scene more spectacular and powerful.

16. It was very interesting to work with Franck. We knew him as our Sketchup teacher in the school and working with him on a personal project was different. Because all the shooting team members were volunteers, it was a less formal shooting.

17. The atmosphere in the team was very warm and friendly. Some were there to cook, a few to watch, and the rest to work. The shooting team was multidisciplinary, that means that we also tried other things such as the lighting, the clap man and a bit of the making off.

18. This is a trailer of the making off, well just a small part of it. I thought it would be interesting to show you some parts of the shooting and how we lived it. While you watch this, I just want to say that, despite not really working on Interior Designs but more Scenography, I found it interesting to work on this comedy film with everyone. Despite the cold weather, we warmed up by laughing a lot behind the cameras.

19. In the End, I really enjoyed working on another kind of project even if I would not see myself doing it as a job. But why not do it again in my free time. And you will have to wait until next spring to be able to watch this film.

Thanks for your attention.

File too large to put on
