The consumer psychology research Juliano Laran pursues has an emphasis on aspects of self-control, from selecting nutritious vs. unhealthy foods to finding savings pathways versus excessive spending. A thought leader in his field, Dr. Laran co-chaired the 2017 Society for Consumer Psychology Boutique Conference in New York. He was also an invited faculty member at the Association for Consumer Research Doctoral Consortium for five consecutive years. In 2015, he was presented with the Early Career Award by the Association for Consumer Research. Dr. Laran’s forthcoming papers include “How Early-Life Resource Scarcity Influences Self-Confidence and Task Completion Judgments” (Journal of the Association for Consumer Research). He recently had “Self-Control: Information, Priorities, and Resources” published in Consumer Psychology Review (January, 2020).
