         <title>Al Capone</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Al Capone was born in January 17, 1899 in Brooklyn, New York from poor Italian immigrant parents. Growing up, Al Capone lived a poor life as he also had  8 siblings, in which 6 were brothers and 2 were sisters. At a young age he was a misconducted child as he struck a teacher for hitting him, in which he got beat after but since that time, he had not returned to school. Soon enough, he met a man named Johnny Torio,  who was ran gambling operations by his house, and stuck close with him. Torio helped Capone get into the bootlegging business, and within time, Capone had become an infamous gangster. <br>   <br>Capone lived his gangster life by either bribery or gunning his enemies down. He got caught through tax-evasion on June 5, 1931. He went to jail for 11 years but in 1934 he was sent to Alcatraz because he bribery towards the guards. He died of cardiac arrest on January 25, 1947.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Jack Dempsey</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Jack Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895, in the Mormon village of Manassa, Colorado. Growing up, Dempsey was a very hard worker as he worked as a farm hand, miner, and eventually a cowboy. His brother, Bernie Dempsey, was the one who taught him how to box, and he he usually fought around mining towns in Salt Lake City. He became the world champion on July 4, 1919 when he beat Jess Willard, "<em>The Great White Hope</em>". He was able to defend his title 5 times but as most people do, lost. He lost to Gene Tunney in 1926. He died in 1983 due to congestive heart failure. </div>]]></description>

         <title>The Scopes Trial</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Scopes Trial Case, also known as the, ' <em>Scopes Monkey Trial' </em> was decided on July 21, 1925 in Dayton, Tennessee. The Scopes trial was a prosecution on a science teacher, known as John Scopes, for teaching evolution. During this time period, Tennessee had just passed the butler act, in which prohibited schools from denying the origin of mankind from the bible. John Scopes of course broke this law and caused a trial. The two opposing attorneys were William Jennings Bryan and Clarence Darrow. John Scopes was found guilty, and had to pay a fine of $100. The Butler Act later in 1967 was repealed. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Babe Ruth </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>George Herman Ruth Jr was born on February 6,1895 in Baltimore, Maryland. Babe Ruth had 7 siblings, but sadly his sister, Maime, was the only one alongside of him who survived. Brother Matthias, one of the monks at St.Mary's, became a a role model for him and helped him with his baseball skills. The brothers invited the owner of the Baltimore Orioles, Jack Dunn, and within half an hour, he signed him to a contract. He is most known for being a prodigious power as a slugger, but he actually started his career as a pitcher.<br>   <br>He was soon sold to the New York Yankees and he dominated the game, as he produced numbers that were never seen before. In 1920, he broke a record that he set the previous year which was most home runs in a season, which was 52. No other player had more than 19. The Yankees had become the most dominant and recognizable team in baseball with Babe Ruth leading the way. </div>]]></description>

         <title>F. Scott Fitzgerald</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>F. Scott Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896  in the United States to a Irish-Catholic mother and salesman father. His first story was actually within the school newspaper at age 13, in which it was about a detective. His first novel, <em>The Romantic Egoist,</em> was rejected right before he was deployed to the Great War. He stayed at Camp Sheridan in Alabama in which he was  accepted a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. At this camp he met a woman named Zelda , and although they were engaged, she would not marry him until he could provide financial stability. Zelda broke off the marriage but they resumed it in 1920 and got married.<br>   <br>Fitzgerald was also one of the many writers that the lost generation. It was a generation that came of age during World War I. One of his most famous books was, "<em>The Great Gatsby</em>"</div>]]></description>
