Hi, I'm Rachael. I work in the Archives for Linfield University. What's an "archives"? Archives collect and share history. They serve as our collective memory. Most days you'll find me teaching because it's my job to share historical records with students. My work is perhaps best summarized as intuitively sorting history so that everyone has unencumbered access. My work in archives contributes to academic excellence, community partnerships, and local historical research at Linfield University. I think you'll be interested to know about our collection on women's clubs in the 1950s as it may help with your work on women's groups in post-World War II America.

Archivists are the professionals who focus on archives. Archives are records of the human experience that may include letters, photographs, sound recordings and, increasingly, digital records. Archivists are educated and trained to preserve, organize, and provide access to these important materials so that we can move toward a more complete historical record. And it's a really exciting time to be an archivist because there is a lot of information available and I want to ensure that there is space for historically oppressed communities to preserve and share their stories.
