Meaning every dollar spent purchasing energy, you would get 92- </span><span style="font-size: 13px;">94 cents worth of heat back</span></p><p>-A geothermal heat pump is measured in coefficient of performance (COP), meaning that if the heat pump is operating at COP 4.0 during a heating season it will provide 4 units of heat for each unit of energy consumed. For each dollar spent on energy, you will receive 4 dollars back.  </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>- Drawing fluids from deep earth to fuel geothermal power plants releases gases into the atmosphere, including CO2, H2S, CH4, and NH3</p><p>- CO2 and CH4 are greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming</p><p>- H2S, when released into the atmosphere, reacts to become SO2, which contributes to acid rain</p><p>- Land subsidence can occur as a result of pumping groundwater; this is an event in which the ground level sinks beneath the norm due to instability - increased seismic activity can also occur</p><p>- Chemicals used for geothermal power plants are generally pumped back into the earth, which stimulates production and reduces threats to the environment - to the effect of decreasing exposure - but this can create groundwater contamination</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>-Dry steam power plants: steam released from pressure underground</p><p>-Flash steam power plants: hot water pumped to service, reduces pressure quickly to produce a blast of steam</p><p>-Binary cycle power plants: Used to get energy from geothermal reservoirs that are too cool to create steam. Water is pumped&nbsp; to the surface and passes through a heat exchanger with a liquid with a lower boiling point than water.&nbsp;The&nbsp;heat from the water causes the&nbsp;other liquid to turn into steam, spinning&nbsp;the turbine.&nbsp;</p>]]></description>
