5/8- Important themes: Among the betrayed 
In the series: The Shadow Children by Margaret Peterson, we find many different symbols. First, Luke who is the main character, he represents hope as he is full of dreams. Mr. Talbot, Jen’s dad, he represents safety, protection and salvation for the some shadow children. The Hendricks School represents captivity, a prison for the shadow children. The Population Police represents fear, power and danger as they are in charge of killing the children and going by the law. The fake IDs represent freedom and a new start for those who get one. The darkness is always present in the story no matter where they go; it represents fear, a limit, the unknown and the curiosity of wanting to know what’s beyond the darkness. The author connects these symbols by showing the dreams and the fears of the characters who deserve to know that everything is not the way you expect to be and that everyone has a place in the world.

Another important symbol is the wand of the grand high witch.  It symoolizes the old witches that have died.  It is given to a new witch every time an old witch dies.

How these symbols connect to the theme is, since one of the most important themes is, that your loved ones will always remain in your heart, no matter what. The sword represents all the power Kronos has. The monsters represent all the badness and darkness there is.
These two symbols both relate to the theme "Power in the wrong hands, can be deadly." For example, in the books, the monsters have power but monsters are bad, so they use that power badly and not for something good. An example for Kronos's sword is that Kronos is the most powerful titan lord there is. He has the power of time. He uses Luke's body to have a body of his own in the mean time. Because Luke is powerful and he has the Achilles curse, when Kronos goes into Luke's body, he becomes even more powerful. In the book, the silver apple represents youth, if you take a bite out of it you will live forever. Also, I believe that the lion Aslan symbolizes opportunity, hope, and that you can make things possible if you try your best.

The silver apple represents youth and beauty, the evil witch wants to be young forever and she wants to live eternally. This keeps on appearing a lot in the book, in order to do so she has to eat the special apple, so she steals it. Digory also steals one but just to give it to his sick mother to save her from dying. The witch wants to trick Digory into eating the apple himself and not give it to his dying mother so he and the queen could be king and queen of the world of Narnia. Digory declines the offer of the evil witch.

The lion Aslan is very important in this story, he is the one that creates the world of Narnia, in which anything is possible, there are talking animals, and mystical creatures living within it. He gives opportunity to Polly and Digory to save Digory's dying mother. He gives hope to Digory and he is a really important character in the story. Aslan is the person everyone in Narnia goes to when they have a problem or they need to ask something because he is very helpful and wise.

Strength:
Harry was very happy to go to a zoo, he met a snake and talk with it in Paseltongue, he help it to escape too, the Dursleys were so nervous and the Dursleys also envy Harry, so they took lots of things like Harry's magical instruments, like his wand, books, Nimbus 2000, etc. Also Harry is very positive which gives him strength to fight against the dark side.

Another symbol is Dumbledore because he has power and strength.

Power: 
He is the headmaster of all Hogwarts school that is the best magician school. He decides what to do and people trust him. He contains the Elder wand, the best ever made wand.

Strength:
Dumbledore is the worst and strongest enemy of Voldemort, Voldemort on the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry said to Tom Riddle who is Voldemort, that Voldemort was afraid of Dumbledore because he talked bad about Dumbledore, then Voldemort was surprised and scared after Harry said that.

ingesting the magic potion. When a character eats/drinks the potion they become mice at the time the alarm clock (one of the ingredients the potion has) was set. This represents evil power. Another symbol that appears in the story is the grandma, she is always positive, even is the hardest, and complicated moments. She also brings sadness to the story, like when she was almost going to die, or when she lost her son in a car accident, even though she didn't was the one who died. This represents hope, and sadness. I think the author connects this symbol (the grandma) to the theme of the story " Never give up, even in the hardest times" this connects to the story because the grandma never gives up and uses that horrors to cheer her up, as new chances, to try harder, and come up with new better ideas, even though a lot of horrible things had happen to her before. In the other symbol (the magic potion)
 the author connects to the theme " Not everything is what it looks like" because the witches where thinking of injecting the magic potion into candy so all the children would eat it. Everyone though it was not poisonous, delicious candy but in reality it wasn't.

Never give up because Harry worked really hard in the nights in secret with a flashlight. For Dumbledore too because he always kept on working hard and he never got retired of working in Hogwarts. Treat others the way you want to be treated because Harry always treated his friends good, teachers, and headmasters. Dumbledore too because he was the headmaster of all the school so he always treated everyone good. Friendship can past through anything because Harry always joined Ron and Hermione to solve mysteries around Hogwarts and other places. On friendship can past through anything, Dumbledore doesn't have. Follow directions or might get on trouble only applies to Harry. This is because Harry sometimes did things that were illegal, but that were to save Hogwarts from getting cancelled, because he did not want to live with the Dursleys because they are muggles. Trust no one because Harry read the Diary from Tom Riddle who it said a 100% lie. Also Dumbledore because Tom Riddle said that it was Hagrid who opened the Chamber of Secrets, but Dumbledore new that Tom was lying to him. Be sure what are you doing because Harry talked with the diary from Tom Riddle, who is Voldemort and Tom Riddle new that it was him. Also to Dumbledore because he needs to keep everyone save, in peace, and with friendship.
