This literacy "guides decisions in our personal lives and enables us to meet our responsibilities as citizens." (Franklin, et. al., p. 1)<br><br>Important areas for statistical literacy include:<br>- <strong>employment</strong> demands for budgets, manufacturing, supplies, performance, etc.<br>- <strong>citizenship</strong> topics such as understanding the sampling &amp; reliability of opinion polls, community statistics, and government data, etc.<br>- <strong>family</strong> choices based on statistical data of food, safety ratings, investments, television programming, &amp; automotive ratings, etc.<br><br>(Franklin, et. al., 2007)</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Including statistics education beginning in Kindergarten with progression &amp; growth through elementary, middle, and high school years is necessary in creating a statistically literate citizen. <br><br>In the past 25 years, technology improvements have caused NCTM revisions to statistics education that now include a vital mathematics content strand in Data Analysis &amp; Probability. <br><br>Having the strong educational foundation in data analysis &amp; probability "empowers people by giving them the tools to think for themselves, to ask intelligent questions of experts, and to confront authority confidently."
