Since I will graduate soon; therefore, I need to start to gain some leader's traits, like self-control. According to Daft (2018), it will never be too late "to learn how to manage their emotions and impulses"; so that the controlling of my emotion will be my first small goal, which is really important, since one's mood "determines how you interact with people", and also the atmosphere around this person (Morin, 2018).

1. Summarize the learnings from others and get the best one

Learning from someone with more experience or some related book is always a good step to start with. Therefore, I will communicate with several "emotion management experts" around me, like my instructors and supervisors, and ask them what will they do when they had a negative emotion. At the meanwhile, I will make notes on both of what they told me about their behaviors and the solutions from books, and find out the most appropriate method for me by practicing.

2. Evaluate and progress

Besides learning and figuring out the best way for me, evaluation is also a significant step. By using the most appropriate method, I will ask the people around me on what they think about the results after I start to use the new solution, and make notes about it. I will also make notes of the process and results whenever I use the solution to control my emotion. Therefore, I will know if I am progressing on it or not. If I do progress, it means this method works pretty well for me, and I can keep using it; but if it does not work well, I will need to try other ways to get better outcomes.

As a potential leader in the future, I need to accept the failure of my team. By comparing with focus on the success of the short term, the long term success is much more critical. In other words, knowing the meaning of the process and looking forward should be the key consideration, rather than the pursuit of short term perfection.

1.Re-evaluation
When there is a failure happened to the group or the organization, the first step for me as a leader to do is to re-evaluate, find out the aspects that need to be improved, and to re-plan the methods to reach the goal. Similar to a GPS in a car, if the drive takes "a wrong turn," the GPS will recalculate the route, and lead the driver to the right destination (Daft, 2018, p. 396). It is hard for a leader to ignore the result, which is not successful; however one failure may lead the team to be more successful in the short future, and sometimes, perfection is to have flaws.

2. Setting a long-term goal to inspire everyone
After re-evaluating the failure and the plan of the team, the next step I will do is to look forward, which represents that setting a long-term goal to inspire everyone within the team. According to Maxwell (2013), “where there is no hope in the future, there is no power in the present,” in other words, offering hopes for the entire team and encourage them with the goal will help a lot on raising their morale from the failure. And I would love to be the person to let my entire team know that failure could be part of the success.
