Pretty sad that a student has this belief and sees it in action in school.

1. To me the "it'll never be the white kids, it will always be us," means that it'll never be the white kids who get in trouble, or lack materials, it'll always be the black kids. Like it will always be the black gets who are getting the short end of the stick so to speak. 2. I am a white kid, so I don't feel that I have a perspective to add, honestly. I see now WHY they would feel this way. 3. From what I see now, I never hear "we should group those white kids together." but I do hear we should group the "ML" together. So just one example.

This quote resonates with me. From childhood through my career, I have seen how students and colleagues of color are often treated differently, with more opportunities and recognition going to white peers. It is a painful reality, but it drives me to create spaces where all students are truly seen, valued, and supported.
