To understand how to analyse a brief

To develop your ability to problem solve using Photoshop

At the beginning of the lesson we was briefed on the unit. With the thought that I could get creative and make my own story i was very excited. Secondly we started on a mind map. The mind map covered many things from the age boundaries and to the limitations of content. After we started making a background for our eBook on Photoshop. I struggled with this as i have limited experience and skill with software like Photoshop. Overall today's lesson was educational and fun. I believe this project will be a learning experience

Today I learnt a great deal. We began the lesson by creating a mind map. On that mind map we put guidelines, areas to improve, audience range and so on. We covered many important factory's that we must consider when creating the Ebook. After lunch we watched a 18 minute long tutorial on how to create a child friendly Ebook cover on Photoshop. Once over we began to create our own

Daily Diary - At the beginning of the lesson we was told we would spend our time getting inspiration for our own children's book. We did this by looking through well known children books and Ebooks. Stories like Peter Rabbit and the Twits gave us much inspiration in particular as they incise many children and let there imagination run wild. From this process we came up with many of our own ideas, the process was very helpful.

How does the scene reflect character, create a tone and atmosphere?

The main character came across as nervous at the beginning of the scene, he had been building up to this penultimate the entire film. This helps set the audience on edge too. When he was given the wrong script its a shock to us the audience. We feel upset as we have supported this lead charter throughout the film. The drums being out of time helps to set the awkwardness for when he storms of stage. The Drums help symbolise his personality and stand as they are such a stand out instrument. When he comes back on stage we see the conductors shock, this emphasises the shock audience is already having. From this moment there is only 3 aspects in portraying the story, two actors and a third, the music. The music/sound plays the most important role in having a affect on the audience. The silence to build tension. The loud drum beats to show the leads determination.

Today we starting mapping our story ideas down onto a story map. I found this process very helpful as it showed me the structure of the story by categorising key features. Once we finish mapping the story fully we are going to move on to the character development and illustration.

Daily diary - Today Dave took over the lesson and showed us how to solve visual/audio problems. The task was to put a Lion onto a still background. Once this was complete the next step was to make the Lion move with background noise. I found the task very tricky as I have lack of experience with Final Cut pro. However Dave was very helpful and I eventually managed to finish the task

1. Is the animation of a professional quality?

Yes, the movements are professional

2. How does our Ebook compare to other groups Ebooks?

I think the Ebook had a lot of potential, but didn't full fill it. There wasn't another animation and therefore the story was hard to understand

3. Would you purchase the Ebook?

I would not purchase the Ebook in its current state. However i would buy it for my little brother if it was had a start and an ending

4. Do you think our target audience of 0-11 year olds would enjoy our Ebook?

I think the Ebook could be educational and therefore attract the target audience

5. Is the sound of a professional quality?

The scipt for the voices seemed professional, however the audio is bad quality therefore i don't believe it is of a professional standard
