Coming from an aristocratic family, Juliet has no freedom in comparison to her star-crossed lover, Romeo Montague, whom explores the city, wall climbs during midnight, or swordfights. She begins the play as a young and innocent adolescent, with slight thought regarding love and marriage. However, Juliet rapidly develops maturity upon falling in love with Romeo. Even though he is the son of her family’s great enemy, her love for Romeo provides her strength to disobey her parents, and face death twice. Likewise, Juliet is also prepared to lose her closest friend, the Nurse, whom is opposed to Romeo.

Even though Romeo is not interested in violence, his family and the Capulets endure a violent feud. He begins the play as a lover for comics and a girl, Rosaline. However, after laying eyes on Juliet, Romeo falls in love with her and forgets about Rosaline. His authentic passion for Juliet is reflected through his renounced likelihood to be a traditional lover, along with his passionate language. As a result, Romeo’s expression for love is displayed through his secret marriage with Juliet.

As his name originates from the word mercury, its element demonstrates his rapid temperament. Mercutio is full of imagination, impulse, and loathes people that comprise of a pretentious obsession with fashion. Romeo’s impassioned thoughts about love make Mercutio tedious. Therefore, he attempts to persuade Romeo to perceive love as eroticism. On the contrary, to protect Romeo’s honour, Mercutio accepts Tybalt’s challenge and gets killed.

He has a powerful sense of honour, and rapidly swordfights when he experiences feelings of offense towards his self-pride. Tybalt challenges Romeo, and Mercutio comes to his defence, accepts Tybalt’s challenge, and is killed. As a result, Romeo seeks revenge and kills Tybalt.
