As in season of autumn.
The soldier falls.

He does not become a three-days personage.
Imposing his separation,
Calling for pomp.

Death is absolute and without memorial,
As in a season of autumn,
When the wind stops,

When the wind stops and, over the heavens,
The clouds go, nevertheless,
In their direction. 

This poem is talking about how every soldier knows that death is possible. Yet no one expects that they will be the ones to die. Then, when they do die, no one cares about their death. This poem is one that has emotion in and behind it. The poem is about the sense of the death of a soldier.  Each stanza has three lines. The painting is the "Last Flight" of the soldiers coming home, in a casket.
