I am currently not in the education field as I work as an HR Coordinator for a mortgage industry. I am looking to improve our Human Resources department as well as our Talent Acquisition team. We currently offer a new Management Trainee program which helps college students either in their senior year or just graduating with entry level jobs and the opportunity to decide on what career they want to pursue. Whether its in mortgage, marketing, technology, or recruiting. I am looking forward to expanding this program and assisting with any career counseling, recruitment, and just get an overall better understanding and knowledge of people.

Our family is Creole and there was little I knew about it growing up except for the amazing homecooked meals my grandparents and dad would make. Red beans and rice, Gumbo, Jambalaya, Etouffee...okay, my mouth is watering now. It wasn't until I got older when I started asking and wondering about our culture and how we got here. My great grandmother grew up in New Orleans and would tell us that Creole's are from French and African American descent. The story would go that Frenchman from the military made their way down to Louisiana and would marry an African American woman, often younger, and have an arrangement with her. That arrangement was that her and their children - who would be considered Creole, would be entitled to his property, wealth, and would receive an education. This made for many individuals to be powerful, wealthy, and influential which at the time was rare for people of color.
The main language was typically French or English. English is my only language, however, I hope to learn a second one day.

My biggest fear is getting old which is strange because I know its inevitable. Every year I get older and I see everyone else around me getting older, but for some reason its hard for me to come to terms with. I think its because I enjoy this life so much getting older is a reminder that it will one day end.

I try to take this as a lesson and to just appreciate each day and especially the little things in life. The little things make up every day and its easy to miss them. Also, not to sweat the small stuff

Before COVID, I realized I never really had a hobby. During, I have picked up PLENTY. I have gotten into embordering. I picked up a beginner embroider kit on Amazon for $10 and can never put them down now. I've gotten pretty good if I don't say so myself!

I have also gotten into baking bread from scratch. I've tried a few recipes like Rosemary garlic bread, cheese bread, sourdough, the brown bread from Cheesecake Factory, and just your classic sandwich bread.

Working out has been a huge self care thing for me. I upgraded our home gym with a few weights here and there when the gyms first closed and its been coming along. I've developed an appreciation for it and have managed to add it to my daily routine coming from someone who could barley walk up a flight of stairs without running out of breath. (That still happens from time to time)

What Makes Me Laugh the Most

I guess it should be who makes me laugh the most, but I would have to say my Fiancé (don't tell him I said that). I love his ability to be goofy and not care what people think of him or how he looks. He is unapologetically himself and it is one of the things I love most about him. There is never a day that goes by where my stomach doesn't hurt from him making me laugh.

If there was one thing I could change about myself, it would be the negative self talk. I can be very hard on myself and it can reflect in my daily life like my confidence. I try to come from a place of love, empathy, and kindness to others, but I often forget to treat myself the same way.

The last movie I saw in theaters was A Quiet Place 2. I think the joy of finally being able to go to the movies again exceeded how mediocre the movie was. I am not a fan of sequels unless its Harry Potter. They are never as good as the first one.

Favorite Book

My favorite books would have to be the Harry Potter series. I never get tired of rereading them or watching the movies. I started when I was in 3rd grade and I remember the elementary school I attended would give out Beanie Babies if you were able to answer 100% correctly on a Harry Potter quiz. I was obsessed with Beanie Babies so I made sure I knew all of the answers. I always thing of that time when I think of Harry Potter. I love the way the books were written, the story line, and I think it mainly reminds me of my childhood so brings a sense of happy nostalgia.
