I want to pick your brain about steps..how to's for in-depth PLC using formative assessments.

I will be glad to meet with you, OR with you and your PLC if they are open to it. If it was me, I would open the ELA framework at the PLC meeting when talking about reading, and ask the team to identify which Learning Target(s) would be covered for the upcoming week. The next logical quesiton would be, "How will we measure that before we meet again?" hf

How to ease the PLC into working together all the time, between the weekly meetings, without it seeming like piling on more meetings.

I get it. Your team has to want the collaboration time. Maybe, at first, there could be electronic updates to each other outside of your PLC time. Also, you could offer to meet with anyone who wants to to discuss formative assessments. It doesn't have to be just one grade level. There may be a couple people in other grades that would want to "lunch and learn". hf

Good question. We know these are never really finished. As we learn more about our students, and ourselves, thin spots will begin to surface. I don't think, however, this will require changing the official Framework. Instead, let it change your instructional delivery. In a few year, when we've become really good at the skill of providing a constant feedback loop, we may find that we don't need the framework much at all, except as a touchpoint. Besides, by that point ELA/SLA will be up for review. We will have the opportunity to do a major overhaul then. :) hf
