Even though I’ve been going to this school for a while, the start of this school year still felt like I was thrown into something new. My classes were different, I had new teachers, and some of my friends weren’t in the same classes anymore. It made me feel a bit lost and unsure, almost like I was starting over. But as the year went on, I adjusted to the changes, got to know my teachers better, and found my rhythm again. Now, I feel much more comfortable and confident with everything around me. It doesn't take much brain power to remember where I'm going, whether it's an A or B day, or even what classmates I have, I've already got most days planned out.

One assignment that I remember vividly, and take pride in, is this one NoRedInk I had. It was titled "Early In the Morning," and you had to read and interpret a poem. I'm proud of this because I loved the way that I portrayed the poem, plus the writing I did. I adore all things romantic, so of course romance was the first thing that came to mind. I feel confident about it because writing is a hobby of mine, so much so that I'm even writing a small story of my own. This assignment shows me that I've come a long way, but I've still got lots of room to grow.

Dork Diaries

This year, I revisited Dork Diaries: Tales from a Not-So-Fabulous Life by Rachel Renée Russell, and it brought back a wave of nostalgia and self-acceptance. The book follows Nikki Maxwell, a quirky middle schooler navigating the challenges of fitting in, dealing with mean girls, and embracing her unique self. One quote that stood out to me was “Let your inner DORK shine through.” This line, from Tales from a Not-So-Fabulous Life, encapsulates the book's core message: embracing who you are, quirks and all. Nikki's journey reminds readers that it's okay to be different and that authenticity is more valuable than conformity.

One personal challenge I faced in 10th grade was balancing schoolwork with responsibilities at home. At first, I struggled to manage everything, I was turning in work late and feeling overwhelmed. I started asking teachers for help when I needed it and talking to my family about what I could realistically handle. From this experience, I learned how important time management and communication are, and I also realized it’s okay to ask for help. This challenge helped me grow more responsible and organized, skills that I know will help me in the future.

For junior year, I hope to earn decent grades and work toward being more than just a C-average student. I want to push myself to stay more focused, turn in work on time, and study harder for tests. I know this year will be challenging, but I want to prove to myself that I can do better. I’m aiming for more B’s and even a few A’s if I stay consistent. I hope to feel more confident in my abilities and see real progress by the end of the year.

"Something's happened inside of me, excellence, yeah, it's gotta be.
