It felt good to know that I helped people in need. They were not what I expected because they were just volunteers. My feelings did not change because my thoughts were always that everyone deserves a home, does not matter who you are or what you look like. Everyone deserves a home and to live peacefully in life.  But I did not get to experience that. I was scared because I have never been downtown by myself. My feelings changed during the experience because I focused on helping the people who need help not about what people have said about the place. My feelings changed because I thought about how hard it can be to live in poverty.  My experience connected to the reading in the way I thought it would by Gaining hands-on experience, Identify and access other university resources, and Develop students' civic and leadership skills because I was able to help others. This agency was also created to let people know about how poverty can make life hard for a person. When I was at project homeless connect I helped people set up, so it was almost like a soup kitchen. I agree with the article because service learning provides us learning experiences that will help us in the future. Unfortunately, being lonely is the most difficult part of being homeless because people just want somebody to recognize that they’re alive. And have somebody believe in them.
