Safe Learning Environment Practitioners will meet with learners in their workplaces to undertake coaching conversations. These interactions are aimed to employ principles of psychological safety and restorative supervision to foster positive department learning experiences and cultures.}

_{What is beyond the scope of a SLEP?}

_{It is not expected that SLEP’s take on the role of a counsellor for learners. SLEP’s should always remain with the scope of practice outlined. SLEP’s should be confident of where to signpost learners should significant or concerning issues arise within SLEP conversations.}

These half day courses are intended for Practice Educators who take (or plan to take) students on placements. The courses aims to introduce you to the St George's curriculum and practice placements, provide an overview of assessment and placement planning and delivery. You will also be provided with supporting electronic resources.

The intended learning outcomes are:

• To provide a broad overview of the students' learning both university and placement based

• Identity learning opportunities within in the work setting for students on placement

• Introduce assessment on placement and familiarise participants with the practice placement assessment document

• Discuss effective learning environments and what practice educators can do to create and sustain these

• Discuss scenarios relating to assessment and students experiencing challenges on placement

• Provide resources to support practice educators with planning and delivery of placements, including more challenging situations

10:00-12:30 - Introduction to Placements

This session would be valuable to clinical staff who are taking up a student for the first time. It provides an overview of the placement process and focuses on the core elements, including supervision and assessment.

13:30-16:00 - Supporting Learning on Placement

This session offers more in-depth guidance based on case studies, with a focus on areas such as conflict resolution and supporting students with disabilities. We recommend this session both for new practice educators seeking a deeper understanding and for experienced educators who would benefit from a refresher.

To promote the education pillar of AHP professional practice, we offer a no fee, non-credited CPD certified model for practice educator training for clinical partners supporting therapeutic and diagnostic radiography students from London South Bank University. The model supports clinical partners to evidence practice against the Council of Deans AHP Educator Career Framework as part of an ongoing national commitment to raise the profile, promote the importance and realise the potential of Allied Health Professions Educators.

The format will be as follows:

Part 1: E-learning for Healthcare - Practice Educator and Assessor Preparation (PEAP) programme - this course has been designed by a multi-professional

academic team in collaboration with a wide range of clinicians and is aimed at a multi-professional audience. It aligns to the Health and Care Professions Council

HCPC Standards of Education and Training (2017). HCPC registrants will be required to complete all 8 units prior to attending part 2.

Part 2: Interactive MS Teams training session with Rachael Williams (therapeutic), Practice Placement lead, or Caitlin McLarty (diagnostic), Practice Placement lead. The training day will only be a half-day session, covering everything required from the University perspective, e.g. clinical competencies, placement portfolio, attendance, record keeping, professional behaviour.
