Today I learned that a great variety of activities can be used to develop students' key competences. The ideas that the group gathered together were very inspiring and will certainly help me plan my future lessons! Also, the knowledge I aquired on Creole cooking will come in useful 😋 The wonderful surroundings have again added to the experience!
Thank you for a fantastic day, Michel and Rita!

Today I took great benefit of all the different thoughts and ideas we exchanged. It showed once more that collaboration of ideas can build up a massive movement, even it started as a little idea (rainforest and the key competences). Besides that input it was nice cooking creol together!

Today we got to know the key competences and have exchanged views: 1) Communication in the mother tongue, 2) Communication in foreign languages, 3) Mathematical competence and basic competences in science and technology, 4) Digital competence, 5) Learning to learn, 6) Social and civic competences , 7) Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship and 8) Cultural awareness and expression.
I would like to give you an example for the development of communication in the mother tongue in elementary school: CREATIV WRITING OR STORYTELLING
“This big green leaf is a magic leaf. When you put your head into the big green leaf and say HOKUSPOKUS you can turn yourself into every animal you want. Now enter your head into the big green magic leaf and say HOKUSPOKUS and turn yourself into an animal. WHICH ANIMAL ARE YOU? CAN YOU FLY OR DO OTHER THINGS? WHAT CAN YOU FEEL, SEE, DO? TELL ME (OR WRITE IT DOWN) ABOUT YOU NEW EXPERIENCE. WHATS IMPORTANT TO YOU AS AN ANIMAL? Fly or go back to the big green magic leaf. Turn to back into a human: HOKUSPOKUS. WHAT CAN WE HUMANS DO TO HELP YOUR ANIMAL LIVE WELL? CAN YOU DO SOMETHING FOR YOUR ANIMAL YOURSELF? TELL ME (OR WRITE IT DOWN). TALK ABOUT IT IN YOUR GROUP, SWAP IDEAS. THELL OTHER KIDS OF YOUR CLASS ABOUT IT. “

Today I learned how to bring theoretical ideas and concepts like key competences into practical use. It was great to see what the members of the group came up with and which really exciting things one can do when going out into the woods with a class full of students. Many of the ideas were really inspiring and something you can bring in to your classroom right away. It was great to see how the key competences always are linked together and that you can actually not only teach them individually but that e.g.mathematical problems that have to be solved in a team always strenghten the social competence as well.

Today I got a deeper understanding how the key competences are applied within projects. Every group member presented a key competence from the reference framework as a lesson or work with his pupils. So the content “ Rain forest“ was developed in a wide range. The overlapping and combination of the key competences in the content are important. The competences support each other and can mostly be equiliberated. Due to our vivid exchange I have now very distinguished lessons which I will adapt to my learning group. Also I have developed ideas which can be organised in e twinning with different partners. I learned that is also important to be joyful for my work and put my interests in it.Thank you to Rita and Michel I learned to prepare a typical creole meal, which tasted fantastic.

Today we were allowed to experience a dreamlike nature. The common Creole cooking let us dive into the culture unknown to us. Food and nature are always closely connected. Living in harmony with nature unites peoples. The presentation of homework made it clear again that the acquisition of key competences is very diverse and that the individual areas often overlap.

Today I learned to cook Creole. The different ingredients and the preparation are different from the European cuisine. It was interesting to see how the fish were roasted on a bottom grill without much help. Also the preparation of coconut milk in combination with a grilled banana was a new culinary experience for everyone.
