I agree that we need diverse books. It is very important for children of color to be able to picture themselves when they are reading. I loved reading books about black girls when I was in elementary school because I could relate to them. It is very important to have diversity in our books because kids needs to know everyone is not the same.

There isn't really anything I disagree with. I enjoyed the whole article. I think Rudine Bishop is a very smart and strong woman who has paved the way in some sort of multicultural books.

When I was little, I use to read books with black people in it. I am mixed with black and white but I lived with my black side of the family. I wanted to read books where there were little black girls like me. I wanted them to be portrayed as I would be portrayed. So when she said that we need books that kids can see themselves in, i agree one hundred percent.

Reading more about why we should have them makes me love it even more. I intend to have all kinds of different books in my classroom.

I enjoyed this class because of the diversity I got to experience without. I have never had a black professor so nobody made an attempt to be as diverse as it was in this class and that's something I really appreciated.
