They offer 6 weeks free support, then after that they ask for a £3.50 contribution per week. They can be found in Lewes Town hall kitchen (access via Fisher St) on Saturday mornings between 10.30am and 12. There is usually a que. They will be open as usual over the Christmas period.

Relationships and Sex Education is compulsory in all secondary schools. As part of our commitment to providing a comprehensive and balanced curriculum that meets these new requirements and the needs of our pupils, we are updating our RSE policy and curriculum.

We are now consulting with all stakeholders, including parents, staff, and governors, on our proposed approach. This process is vital to ensuring that our RSE provision is age-appropriate, relevant to our school community's values, and reflects what pupils need to know to be healthy and safe in their relationships and the wider world, now and in the future.

While the content we must teach is largely determined by statutory guidance, the consultation allows you to share your views on when and how certain topics are covered, and your feedback will be genuinely reflected upon.

We invite you to participate in the following way:

• Review the Draft Policy and Curriculum: The draft RSE policy and our curriculum plan (indicating topics and age groups) is available on our school website at https://www.chaileyschool.org/chailey-life/subjects/pshe

• Resources: Some of these are identified in the curriculum documents; others are largely protected from sharing here by copyright arrangements. • Submit Feedback: Please share your views, suggestions, or questions regarding the proposed RSE policy and curriculum. You can provide feedback via the online feedback form at RSE Parent Consultation – Fill out form

• Time-frame: This parental consultation is open from Friday 12th December and will close at 3pm on Friday 9tth January 2026.

To mark this occasion, we have arranged a trip for Year 11 students to visit the Marine Workshops, where they will view their own work displayed as part of the exhibition.  As part of the event on 8th January, there will be a Prize-Giving Ceremony attended by local dignitaries, celebrating the outstanding work of our students.  There will also be an opportunity to vote online or in person for your favourite student artwork.  Follow @chaileyartdepartment for more news on how to vote. 

We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements and look forward to sharing this special day with them on 8th January.

The evening opened with the school orchestra, whose confident and expressive performance immediately set the tone. Their playing provided a rich musical backdrop throughout the concert and beautifully accompanied many of the carols, showcasing the dedication and talent of the young musicians.

The school choir followed with a selection of traditional carols sung with enthusiasm and clear enjoyment.

Interwoven with the music were a series of thoughtful and beautifully delivered readings. These moments of reflection added depth and meaning to the evening, reminding everyone of the true spirit of the season.

A particular highlight of the concert was the Community Choir, made up of both staff and students. Their performance captured the heart of the event, symbolising togetherness and shared celebration. Seeing different generations singing side by side was a powerful reminder of the strong sense of community within the school.

The school would like to extend sincere thanks to Rev Paul Mundy and the team at St Mary’s Church for hosting the concert and for their warm welcome and generous support, which helped make the evening such a special occasion. Thanks also to the Friends of Chailey School for serving festive refreshments. Special thanks are also due to Mr Baxter, Head of Music, whose dedication, leadership and enthusiasm were central to the success of the concert. It was an evening that celebrated not only musical talent, but also collaboration, reflection and community spirit — a wonderful start to the season for all who attended.

I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. As this term draws to a close, I want to thank you all for your support. We are so fortunate to have the community that we do, and I know the success of the young people in our care rests on our ability to work together for their best interests.

This week has seen such highlights including the beautiful carol concert on Tuesday evening at Newick Church, as well as a very different type of entertainment with the staff panto! 

Today I was able to host a prize draw of 30 prizes for students who have attended every Friday this term- well done to all involved. 

Once again, we hope you all have a wonderful Christmas break, and we look forward to seeing all students on Monday 5^th January.
