3 Things Learned

- Multiple strategies are vital to mathematics instruction. It is imperative that teachers explicitly teach multiple problem solving strategies to kids.

- Productive Struggle - this is lacking in students for a variety of reasons but is important to instill an ability to perseere.

- I learned about math manips and how useful they are for students attempting to visualize and truly understand the foundational concepts of mathes.

2 Things Wonder

- I wonder if I would be able to teach elementary math. I think I would be lost if I was teaching anything above a grade 2 level! That is sad...but true.

- I wonder how I passed high school maths. My brain really doesn't work well with this stuff! I was suprised at how hard I had to think to solve first and second grade math problems.

1 Thing to Use

- Although I won't use the mathematics strategies in the same way, I will try to use multiple strategies of instruction in my ELA classes. Teaching concepts multiple ways and encouraging students to use multiple strategies to arrive at the same end point could be useful.
