It can also spread to the womb, ovaries, and/or the fallopian tubes. Which causes Pelvic Inflammatory Disease leaving a woman infertile.

*Azithromycin- One dose of 1g, followed by 500mg once a day for 2 days.
-Do not have sexual intercourse for a week while on antibiotics!

Effects on Newborns

In newborns, Chlamydia causes eye infections and pneumonia and can be giving to the child from childbirth. It's recommended that the newborn is treated immediately to prevent conditions from worsening. Once treated the infection shouldn't last no more than a week. The doctor will prescribe antibiotic eye drops for the eye infection and a oral antibiotic for the pneumonia.
